I agree. He shockingly has 3 goals this year, but only 1 since October 16th. The one came on Jan 18th against Ottawa and it was a floater from the blue line that snuck in.
I know this because I had the same thoughts this morning and went and looked.
No idea what he provides anymore. I think he kills penalties? Other than that he skates into the end boards with the puck pretty well.
Drafted late 1st round. And here is where I have a bit of an issue when people give a GM credit, because said player played in the NHL.This is not an attack on Donny either.I just think that type of thinking is a bit flawed.I'm too lazy to dig to find his player thread, so I'll post this here.......
I was thinking about this last night.....is John Beecher the worst forward in the NHL? His last 71 NHL games.
1 goal, 5 assists, 37 shots, -19, averaging 11 minutes per game.
I don't see how they can justify qualifying this player. If he's not the worst forward in the NHL, he has to be the worst forward with the puck on his stick. Just dreadful.
I don't even think he has tools. I mean, he's big and he can skate, but I consider things like hands and shot to be tools, and he doesn't have those at all. He's not an NHL caliber player IMO. Pure definition of "tools but no toolbox" player. Bruins need to stop drafting and acquiring players like this. He's not the only player they've employed this season who fits this description. Or that they've recently drafted. It's infuriating to watch this story play out over and over and over.

449 miles, so don't do the math
The rest stop right before Herkimer (ny)going east always had a decent Burger King. (I used to live in Ilion).6 Hours and 35 Minutes from South Buffalo to Watertown ( including a rest area stop )

It’s not no. A bridge deal gives the player some increased comp but keeps the control of the player with the organization. A one year deal here is just walking him to UFA.A one year is not a bridge? It bridges two contracts, the elc and the ufa deal (roughly speaking). Didn’t know it had to be two to meet the definition.
Be interesting to see if they let him walk rather than risk a bad contract for a season that didn't matter with no pressure playing with Pasta. It does kinda suck that Geekie is driving up his price in a worthless season.
Put the C on him and get him some help, that starts with getting Marner signed, and management not taking any time off and get to work on putting out a competitive team on the ice next season...have to admire Pasta's competitive, winning spirit
I want him signed but I have no idea what the contract is gonna look like. The longer this season goes, the more I think he gets 22-24mil over 4 years. This is one of the trickier contracts to predict IMOBe interesting to see if they let him walk rather than risk a bad contract for a season that didn't matter with no pressure playing with Pasta.
Lots of credit for the kid to capitalize but I would be very cautious with this one.
I hope they had a number in mind mid-season and will stick to it. Swayman taught them a lesson I hope.I want him signed but I have no idea what the contract is gonna look like. Sign Marner or another big scorerPut the C on him and get him some help, that starts with getting Marner signed, and management not taking any time off and get to work on putting out a competitive team on the ice next season.
I think we agree, something needs to be done, cannot sit back and wait for it to happen, "GET AGGRESIVE" !!!Sign Marner or another big scorer
Get lucky by finding another Geekie type
Add more scoring vet like (not saying him) but a JVR type, cheap
Hampus back
McAvoy back
Back in playoffs
I think that sort of team would be very dangerous. Finding and hitting on all of those pieces is gonna be rough thoughSign Marner or another big scorer

Gonna take some luck but doing nothing but signing more bottom 6 sure won't helpI think that sort of team would be very dangerous. Finding and hitting on all of those pieces is gonna be rough though
Again, a lot of people are taking it for granted that Hampus Lindholm A) returns from that broken kneecap and B) remains the player he was before the injury. I certainly want him to on both counts but nothing is guaranteed.
Bruins better have a Plan B just in case.
Yeah but he’s still RFA, he’ll come in at an affordable price, even if it’s just a bridge.
Being restricted I think the most he can make on a one year deal would be 4,200,000, with his current contract being 2mil per.
A bridge would be ideal, all depends on Geeks camp and what their thinking, as since he's been with Pasta the two together have been as good as it gets. In favor of the bruins Geek loves it in Boston and they should be smart enough to realize without Pasta his numbers aren't close to what they are today, but still he's been the Bruins second best forward and should get 30 goals.
They can offer him that, but why would he take it?That would be the number if it goes to arbitation, yes? I hope it doesn't get that far. I'd like to see them offer him 2 years at a decent raise, like 4-4.5m, and see if he sustains the production, and if so, he can cash in on the next contract.
