Thought there were a couple of ugly stretches for the Jackets in this one, but most importantly, they took care of business.

Five points to clinch, but realistically, three or four gets us in. I don't see New Jersey or Toronto running either of their schedules down the stretch. Things are really looking good right now!

Dude you are all over the place. What happened to (possibly reverse-psychology) depressed guy?;)

NVM saw your subsequent posts. Honesty FTW. Love it.

You're surprised that someone got depressed after the way the Jackets lost to Chicago and is happy after the team has rebounded? I think that's a description of EVERY Blue Jackets fan's weekend.

Wow, the more I think about it, the bigger feeling of relief I have after this win. Needed that so bad.

I don't even think we played particularly well. Hopefully we don't play like that against Phoenix, because we would get our ***** handed to us.

I've lost my hope to be consistent a many years ago and the only thing I can be consistent at is posting some rude things. Even when I don't mean to be rude :)

Didn't we eliminate Dallas last year? I think they might seek revenge this time and they are fighting for a wild card spot too..

I think in the replay I saw, the ref's arm was up before the scrap even started, which suggests Carkner was getting called for something before the fight.

Great win, the kind of win we needed in a game like this, when a playoff contender should have outplayed the Isles.

Punching Matty in the back of the head.

I thought we weren't that good tonight. Too much lazy offence, and fancy plays at the blueline that leave us prone to turnovers. But you don't have to be that good when Bob is on his game. He's now got 2 shutouts in the last 3 games, and is up to .922 on the year.

Congrats on making the playoffs guys. Really have been impressed by the Blue Jackets this year.

I have always liked Ryan Murray, Ryan Johansen, and Boone Jenner. This is a good young team, teams better not look past this team.

I will be cheering for Columbus with the Leafs out.

Goodluck, good to see after years of missing the playoffs.

I don't blame you for being cautious. Barring a miracle, you guys are in.

Considering that this team lost out on at least 1 point just two days ago from a goal scored with 0:04 left in the game...

Or that this team missed out on the playoffs last year due to a tiebreaker...

Or that most of us grew up watching the Indians, Browns, and Cavaliers lose in improbable and soul-crushing ways....

"Cautious" doesn't begin to describe it.

Probably.... but CBJ fans that have been around awhile cannot count on anything... The NHL has no clue the hard luck this organization has faced since their beginning, worse than the Tampa Bay Rays or LA Clippers in their day... even worse than the Buffalo Bills!!! ;)

The good news is that the chance of having an 7.5 earthquake under Nationwide Arena is almost zero!! :)

I thought boll was supposed to deter that from happening?

Ca5150, your thoughts?

He came back and did his job, he's been just fine doing his thing, we don't have anyone else that would have been more effective, Tropp wouldn't have done anything. Enough of the Boll hate, he's pulling his weight. Nice assist in the Chicago game and beat the snot out of Bickell.

I get you guys, we were in the playoffs 2 weeks ago until we lost 8 in a row.

Still I like the Blue Jackets a lot, everytime you played us, I was very impressed.

Solid young team, maybe the youth is the scary part, but its also the best part of this team.

I try to be consistent all year with the positives, but I broke last game. I admit it, it was dumb. Hopefully it's proven wrong and we can all celebrate in the playoffs.

Nope. You owned it, and I can respect that. You should have seen me after that Hawks game. I wanted to punch every damn Hawks fan in the arena, and I am not a man given to violence.

At the game last night. Nice win, but I thought the Jackets were very sloppy at times. They need to clean their game up from here on out, because they aren't playing a team like the Islanders again. They have not played well at home for a while now, but fortunately they seem to play much more disciplined on the road.

I, too, am suffering from past Jacket failures fear, so I hope these guys cure me of that affliction.

Like most here, I am delighted we won. But also like most here, I saw some pretty glaring holes in their game.

Win is a win. How many times have we said after a loss when they played well "If they play that way..."

Only if you quit trying to convince me he's skilled. He's a smaller, faster, slightly more skilled version of Jody Shelley. I understand his popularity, he fights, and fans chew that up. He obviously has some leadership skills and good for him, but I just don't see how he makes this team that much better. He was a necessary evil last night because the Isles are a fairly dirty team IMO. While he did his job last night, he bit off more than he could chew with Carkner. His face on Tuesday will prove that. Doesn't exactly scream a 1.7M a year player to me.

My one observation from last night that I just kept coming back to is RJ Umberger is done in Columbus. He was horrible last night and took a couple of big hits too. He has not done himself any favors since he returned to the lineup. That said, he will be important if we make the playoffs. He's played well in the past when the lights are the brightest. Maybe he saves himself, but I really think he's trending toward a compliance buyout.
