Oilers vs Canadiens would be my dream final. Too bad such a thing will never happen within my life time.

While doubtful, there have been 2 Calgary/Montreal finals in the past, so not impossible and Edmonton should be in their window for a while still and Montreal might just be close to entering their own window.

Id say edmontons win is probably 5 years. After that we are probably looking like the buffalo Sabres or Blackhawk are. If we win a cup or 3 who cares. If we don't win any fml

Oh f*** even Nuge? Hopefully not.

I know there are a few people here who are relentlessly optimistic and can't stand any pragmatic discussion about this team, but the Oilers need to start winning a few games. There is a real possibility they miss the playoffs if a few cards break against them. There is no room for moral victories at this point.

Just to get ahead of it - teams missing their #1, #2, and #3 C's, their #1D man, their starting goalie, and 2 top 9 wingers will struggle to look good, and struggle to win. This isn't an indication of the quality of the team, the quality of the coach, and doesn't mean that McDavid is going to want out.

It's all ok.

Tonight is going to be tough, all the can do is battle as hard as possible. Hoping for a solid night from Pickard.

BIG opportunity for Philp.

If Calgary does t lose and they play Anaheim fyi this team is literally gonna have to beat San jose twice to make the playoffs. Auto loss to Winnipeg and LA unless they give all their key players rest. Honestly it's disheartening that they've even let it get this dicey.

need Calgary to lose cause we won't be winning much in order to get in

Magic number for either Oiler wins or Calgary losses is 2 (provided at least 1 Oiler win is regulation time in the event Calgary ran the table winning in regulation).

The San Jose games should be the fail safe to at least get playoffs if necessary. With Home ice now just being a pipe dream everyone will travel to San Jose for the final game as I suspect they'll just go straight to LA after the game, which would make them all available to play. If Ekholm is still out, they could even technically retroactively LTIR him to activate Kane.

It would also be an option for McDavid to retro LTIR if still not playing, but I'd suspect that if they did this, the preference would be for Ekholm as the intent would be to get a game with the playoff lines together.

Happy to see Philp get in, hopefully it's not at the expense of Nuge, and McDrai both continue to sit out. Though it would be cool to see him get some better opportunity with more minutes than last time.

If Frederic, Mcdavid, Kane, Draisaitl and Nuge are all still out, it's really lame that we can't also bring Savoie up. Could be really interesting to see how he does without Drai, but in a scoring role. I imagine it's tough for guys to come in and play with absolutely elite players like that, while not deferring and straying away from their game too much.

Can we stop with the missing the playoffs fear mongering? It's a new chicken little thing to fret about constantly here.

If by some out of left field circumstance this actually became a real risk, all of 29, 97, 14 are back in the lineup.
