Believe me, as I continue to drench my eyes in drops, you don't want that right now.
Sorry for the insensitive joke. heh. I forgot your in the drowning your eyes with eyedrops phase after cataract surgery.

Do these sadists schedule these surgeries in spring purposely when all this grit, sand, gravel is in the air? I had my operation exactly same time of year. Just in time for your eyes to get sandblasted just going outside.

Whoops. sorry again. ;)

LOL. I wasn't anywhere close to being alive yet, but were you around to watch Jacques Plante in Oiler colors?

Even in his mid-40s I'm sure our net was in better shape with him in it...
Unfortunately. At age 50 he was probably a better skater than Skinner.

Yeah Jacque Plante in full color. Good joke. The only other time you saw him was black and white.

Cheap Bill Hunter got him on firesale. Jacques Plante, seriously around age 50, was a jump the shark moment even at that time. Oddly enough it even sold tickets. Foreshadowing that we'll settle for anything. Winnipeg Jets get Bobby Hull. Houston gets Gordie Howe. "hey Oilers fans heres retired Jacques Plante." jebus.

Ah, don't worry about it. The eyes are fine. It's watching this team that hurts them.

There's a lot of construction going on across the street from me but I don't feel it at all. Followup appointment is tomorrow. Everything so far has been pretty good.

Inge Hammarstrong. lol. That was our sarcastic name for him. Him and 5lbs of fish could get you 5lbs of fish.

Reminds me of ages ago when Wild Bill Hunter would stock up an Alberta Olders lineup with a buncha Bob Falkenbergs and Val Fonteynes. They wouldn't do a f***ing thing but he'd be able to point out this guy plays D and look his hockey card said he was in the NHL a lot... Lets just say the Alberta Oilers had about a dozen hockey cards nobody wanted but at least we had Jim Harrison.

That Alberta Oilers team. hard to love that inaugural year.

Strange they had a player from Scotland. Not sure what they were scouting over there other than Aged Scotch.
Who knew the tradition of Oiler management drinking their troubles away a la Bob Nicholson, KLowe et al, had such a long history. 😂

I figured I caught a glimpse of something in the matrix there. I actually went to Ayr once. Nice sleepy town with buxom lasses and Distilleries all over the place. haha.

Couldn't imagine a scout wanting to land there.

I wasn’t around then either but I think I heard a story that Plante only played home games and the team would take 2 other goalies on road trips?
I also wonder if there is a good book on the details of the wha / bill hunter era.

Draisaitl strains a muscle eating chips in the press box.
I wanted to put this picture somewhere. Arvid finds a goal, Leon can't contain his excitement. Hey this is my fulltime Winger, He got his 10th goal of the season in 75th game, He has more goals than my other winger...

He hated flying. I think it was in the contract he'd only play home games due to that. I saw him live here about 10X. Few of the games he was OK> Couple he was good.

Let me get back to you on the WHA books. There are some sites around as well. I actually loved the era, along with the connections to the Slapshot movie.

I did read this book. Was OK rundown:

If people are interested I'd start a thread on it. I've already done threads here on luminaries such as Jim Harrison, the Oilers first Star player. Or Al Hamilton our first shutdown D. I go way back with this stuff and even saw some of the players as Oil Kings.

Holy shit! Thanks for the history lesson! I didn't realize you were actually around for the Jacques Plante-era Oilers! I'll try to dig up those threads.

The most accurate picture of how he really feels having to drag so many carcasses to wins this season.
