Oli was definitely helping out with this one - the TD goal horn the Bruins sent him going off four times after Marchy scored his 400th goal was amazing. Hubby and I were laughing so hard after the second time, then it just kept going. Coincidence? I think not!

There’s no doubt that on paper, this team is inferior to last year’s team.

However, there is nobody in the East that I can’t see them beating. There’s also nobody in the East that I can’t see them potentially to.

The West has some juggernauts, but you worry about that if you get there.

I was thinking on the drive in this morning about just how much they lost off of last year’s roster and it’s pretty amazing that they have had the season they’ve had.

I was thinking about this last night after the game. No one expected this really and when I watch them play from the opposing team's broadcast, the announcers just go on & on about good they play.
They have made it another fun season & I think they get to ECF.

I was thinking the same thing yesterday afternoon, so I turned on the radio. Felger was talking about how the 70's Bruins are overrated.

Its amazing the lengths they go to create something to bitch about.

That’s literally his job, to create something to talk about so people will listen/ call his show. Considering his ratings over the last 15 or so years, I’d say he’s pretty good at it.

There's plenty to talk about the Bruins other than "the 70's Bruins were overrated" - but they just don't know what to do with things going well so they scrape the bottom of their barrel.

I would have loved to hear a discussion of why/how this team is performing so far above expectations, but instead all they have is a cynical rip job on the roster from 50 years ago, a Canadian "sowry" and so I turn it off.

Another solid defense first game. After watching the Nashville game compared with this, I believe that Gryz and JVR have no business in The lineup when Maroon starts playing.
Lohrei makes big mistakes but his size and willingness to retrieve pucks and pin people on the board is the opposite of Gryz. Even Shatty makes more sense. B's need to find a way to keep 27-73 together.
Nice job by Swayman also!!

I heard that Coyle point totals are the ssme as Bergy last year and zacha has more than Krech. So point wise they stepped up. We did lose faceoff efficiency and defence.

ABSOLUTELY. To borrow a line from Office Space, Michael Felger is a no-talent ass-clown. With all three teams winning right now, he has to go back fifty years and spew about that.

As for the 1970s Bruins being overrated, I certainly don’t think so. They actually had several things working against them.

1. Too much partying/too cocky.
2. The Montreal Canadiens.
3. The WHA.
4. Bobby Orr’s knee.

To be honest, given all that, I’m thankful they won the championships they did. Felger can take a flying f*** at a rolling donut.

Why are people constantly surprised by the things said on talk radio. It’s their job to have wild takes to make people tune in. In most cases they don’t even believe their own takes.

I guess they are doing exactly what they need to though if people are talking about it.

I completely agree with you, but actual hockey talk doesn’t really work in this market. Throughout the history of sports radio in Boston, way before Felger, it has never garnered enough interest to carry a show. Just what it is. Thankfully there are hundreds of podcasts available now. What I don’t understand is everyone here KNOWING that Felger is what he is yet still tuning in and then coming here to bitch about it. Not you specifically of course, but you know he is going to say outlandish stupid things, why do you listen?

I haven’t listened to the afternoon show on the sports hub in a very long time. XM radio and podcasts are the way to go. I get the content I want with fewer “hot takes” and even fewer callers. 🙂
