devils fan coming in peace. shouldn't calvert not be playing, if he's sensitive to light? it seems like a bad move on our end, but maybe your fan base knows something we don't? i really hope he doesn't get screwed up worse tonight. good luck!

You make it sound like our medical staff doesn't know what they are doing, which is what many of us already suspect.

 okay i'll take that as no one knows why he's even out there. don't worry, our guys are pretty soft and old, so i'm sure hit's will be like he's being smacked by a pillow. hopefully that's not enough to make it worse

yep:(
In 2013, the American Academy of Neurology issued updated guidelines for the evaluation and management of sports concussion and the main criteria for an athlete's return to play after a concussion include the following - complete clearing of all symptoms

our team is built around hitting and fighting so the minute that goes away, our bread and butter goes away, so if everyone rooting for sissy hockey get's their way, we'll be garbage

Andre Deveaux might be looking for work

Light sensitivity could be related to a number of things. Hell, it seems like the sun just came out recently in Columbus. Long winter.

We're going to trust THIS medical staff? The one that couldn't diagnose a concussion for multiple days?? Good grief. There's seven meaningless games left. Sure...let's let Calvert risk more brain injury to play in those. Ridiculous.

Diagnosing a concussion is a two-way street. If Calvert doesn't disclose some of what he is feeling, what are they supposed to do? Players hide these things all the time.

But apparently he has mentioned the sensitivity to light so at least that is not hidden. And someone has to be the grown-up sometime. With 7 games to go, I'd sit him. Why risk further or long term issues? I just don't get it.

Morin doesn't bring anything to the team, he won't be on the NHL roster next year and he certainly would never play ahead of Boll. As much as a lot of you hope he does, for some reason...he has no offensive talent, doesn't hit, doesn't forecheck, doesn't fight well. It's just not happening.

What? Then why is Morin in the lineup and Boll is scratched?!

I know people think our 4th line should a bruiser line but it really doesnt need to be. The first 3 lines are all mixes of gritty in your face players and offensive skilled players. The 4th line (see our playoff run) is there to act as a energy line when things dont go our way or to keep pressure on the opposing team (with offense) something that wont happen with Boll and Tropp on the 4th line.

I think Calvert is playing because he knows his clock is ticking in Columbus. I hope he stays, maybe even over Cam, but this reminds me of what happened with Derek Dorsett. When he got hurt vs Boston and got traded at the deadline, what was the reason Jarmo gave? He said "the team was winning without him." I feel if a team comes around and gives up what Jarmo feels is OK value, Calvy is gone.

Boll is suspended 1 more game, he's not scratched. We'll see what happens Thursday, provided there are no more injuries and Boll is eligible to come back.

I too hope they sign him, he's far too valuable up and down the lineup than let him go after next year or trade him over the summer. I would rather trade Cam as well, he would get a bigger return and I think if he was healthy for a full season, Calvert could approach 20 goals. He has 10 in 49 this year and he wasn't totally healthy in a lot of those and playing way less minutes than Cam.

He told them he had a sore neck, which is literally a symptom of a concussion...

I slept on my couch last night. I also woke up with a stiff neck.

I would have to see the hit in question again. I remember him getting hit and it looked like he was slow to get up. He left the game and it was reported he had a concussion, but it wasn't from that hit. He had actually gotten one a few days before.

Diagnosis of a concussion is not a fine science, it's getting better though.

i completely agree, i really like calvert and want to keep him around, but its a numbers game at this point. We're winning without him and we have young kids chomping at the bit to see ice time.

He's suspended.

  whoops. I knew he wasnt hurt so i figured that had to be the reason. Idk i guess we'll see how the lineup looks in a few days. But if we have a decisive win tonight i dont expect him in the lineup

Unless Morin scores 5 goals tonight, he will come out of the lineup if everyone remains healthy, but we'll see Thursday, NYI is a VERY physical team.
