And he was still a force in the Playoffs. They upset the Bruins and won the Cup eventually against Chicago. He could had played a couple more seasons even if he was already 40.
I was only 10 and I remember Jean Beliveau! My late father use to tell me stories about the Habs who won 5 straight cup in the 50's.

watch this tard of a franchise go 90% rest of the way and finish a solid 10th because you know... you rebuild by turning it up with 8 games to go.

The 1970’s Habs could had done the same or even better IF Bowman would had stayed, as well as Dryden and Lemaire. Even with another brilliant season by Lafleur in 79-80 with Larouche as his centerman, they were swept by the young Oilers in a three game series. Then the first part of the 80’s were hurtful.

I guess it’s all Matheson’s fault. He isn’t bad enough.

They won’t. Look at the calendar. Maybe 3 or 4 wins max.

Yeah I was in the middle of that 70's dynasty. I enjoyed watching this team utterly dominate game in and game out. They could play any style you wanted. No team in NHL history ever had 3 Hall of Fame D of that caliber, one of them was always on the ice.

Serious question- do you expect this group to roll over for a better pick? Do you expect their hall of fame coach to purposely tank?
Some of these guys are playing for their professional lives.

I don't think I could hack it living in the eternal winter that is Montreal. Be safe y'all
Our eternal Winter lasted about 5 days. I think we had two major snowfalls and everything had melted by early March. Today's storm was weirdly out of date and will be gone by the weekend when temperatures rise again.

I used to play organized hockey outdoors. No way will leagues schedule that today, with rinks thawing every two weeks.

I mean, you can be the shittiest team in the league, and still, many teams will not sweep you in a season series.

I don't get too hung up on wins and losses at this point. It is what it is and just accept wherever the team ends up.

The rebuild isn't the tank.
The rebuild makes us win those games right now, you rebuild by developping what you already have as much as drafting the next guy.

We would be set with a 3 overall this year, but at 6-10 we are spinning our tires if you ask me. We are really one legit forward draft pick from turning this shit-canoe around. Sign a UFA, trade an asset and we are moving forward with a sweet core.

No, but does not mean I am celebrating these wins lol.

As much as I want the team to get a great pick I will never watch hoping they lose or tank.

I endured Pittsburgh pulling off the biggest tanks ever for Sid and Malkin , I would go through that for Bedard or any other franchise player though. I mean with 8 games left, a loss is pretty much a non emotional event, same as a win. I'm rooting for 6-5 losses so the kids can load up on some stats though

There is no way this team was going to finish worse than SJ, Chicago or Anaheim.

Kucherov...........................went in the 2nd round..................let that sink in.
Markov, went in the 5th round............
MSL a hall of famer, did NOT get drafted.

Anyhow........................a top 10 pick will do us good, very very good now that we have a real team of people to make the rebuild work.

You would have told me at the beginning of the season that our best vet forward at the end of the year would be Yoel m***** ******* Armia and i would have never believed you. That's how pathetic the rest of the bunch are.
Anderson and Gally should be embarassed.

Building the culture starts with winning games and building swagger. These guys imo are not playing loose, they are playing like the games matter.
I’m rather neutral about their performance as there are no stakes at issue right now. There is no pressure to win.

Let’s find out who among them is for real and who won’t show up when games really matter.

For now, i’m just happy with effort, regardless of outcome but I’m wary of otherwise drawing too many conclusions. Just being in the moment, I guess.

Depends if you buy into the notion that all other picks (in the top 10 projected) after the 1st or 2nd OA, are interchangeable.

When I start seeing fans trying to soft land the possibility of a later first rounder (on account of team wins continuing to add up now) and using words like how such and such a prospect would be a nice “consolation prize”, it’s rather unpleasant. I hope we didn’t have to go through a whole season of being a bottom feeder only to end up with a consolation prize.

Also, if Calgary selects earlier than the Habs, we can forget about Iginla.

It’s just never clear cut when this team is drafting. Adds to the intrigue, I suppose.

If they pick 5th, I think they keep it. Possibly trade down. If they pick 6-10, I think they trade it. Someone will want one of those defencemen and will probably be willing to move a good young forward. Dallas has a couple really good young guys. Of course, no idea if they’d consider moving one.

This is a deep draft in the top 10 -12. Even if we run the table, we’re getting a future core player.
