The number one takeaway from this one is that the Oilers aren't very good at all, we held them close for the majority of the game, the first 10 minutes of the 3rd was a shit show but aside from that and a questionable penalty call that led to the Arvidsson goal they basically played a 50/50 game against the worst team in hockey

The line has no energy. They might like each other fine but on the ice Smith and Toffoli are completely incapable of providing any jump.

Ya, it definitely feels like he hit a wall. I wonder if he and Smith get a few development days down the stretch to make the most of what's left of this season or if they want them to just push through and learn how to play a full NHL season at this point.

Definitely been disappointing to watch him fade out, while Hutson and Michkov have been heating up as of late, but I think Celebrini has already given us more than we could ask for this season. Hopefully he's still learning something out there and comes back next season ready to rock!

Celebrini's gift is making quick decisions and jumping on plays quickly. Smith and Toffoli basically snuff out any advantage from that, they cannot keep the quickness going to break down the defense. Bottom line as I have been saying for several games, they need a f***ing F1 and it should be Eklund.

We still play the Oilers two more times and it scares me a bit how close this game was as we expect the Oilers to roll over us.... Really hoping Mcdavid and/or Draisaitl are back by the time we play again

I'm not worried, I doubt we see another .921sv% performance against them again to close the year, Romanov both had big moments and also a lot of lucky moments, he, Georgiev and Carrier aren't going to pull that out against them again

I didn't get to watch all, but the Oilers' team defense is underrated. They actually are pretty solid defensively, but they have awful goaltending and have a crop of forwards who stink on backchecks.

They just totally lack depth

Even last year they rode the historical play of an all time great and the typical playoff heroics of another future HOFer to the closest you can get to the top without winning, but the rest of their team basically contributes nothing

Their best depth players are low event players at best, the rest of them are actively detrimental, it's legitimately impressive how poor of a job they have done building around these two all-time scoring talents, their team construction really sucks
