They're all going to look like sieves unless our defense gets their act together.Allen is a top end backup and weve all seen how much of a sieve he was for us.

I bet HuGo's kicking themselves in the rear end right now for trading Allen for a 3rd round pick. Allen's at least capable enough to spell Monty off once in a while unlike the backups we have now who the coaches have zero confidence in.Allen is a top end backup and weve all seen how much of a sieve he was for us.
Reinbacher should really help with this. It’ll be his rookie year but he’ll still be an upgrade on Savard. While I share your optimism for improvement with Demi coming over, this Habs team has way more room for improvement by keeping pucks out of our own net. A quick look at the standings says that to have comparable GF, GA to the top teams we need to score 10-15 more and keep 50(!) more out of our own net.
We need to figure out if it is our system, our players, C, or D or the goalies and get that fixed. There is no feasible way to outscore that.
Even Markstrom and Bobrovsky. You are actually right. Frankly, the only goalies we should want over him are:
Helleybuyck, Vasilievksi, Oettinger, Thompson, Bobrovsky, Sorokin, Shesterkin (despite the tough year), Markstrom, who else?
What? No, of course not. Habs aren't moving on from Monty. He's not a problem at all.
The team doesn't have a #2 centre.
Im pretty sure Dobes is capable too. I dont know why Marty lost confidence in him like this. He had a great game against the Flames and a stinker after, why sit him 3 weeks?I bet HuGo's kicking themselves in the rear end right now for trading Allen for a 3rd round pick. Yeah, well we all sucked. So it makes sense.Johnson saying 87 points might get a spot. That seems really low.
We're probably getting a playoff spot with a more stable Monty/Allen tandem given how other teams don't want to claim that 8th spot.Jake Allen has elite number when limited to <36GP - is he plays more his performance falls off a cliff.
Diekembe seems best suited for 42-45GP tandem G
It’s because we’re playing Florida. There’s going to be dumb stuff that happens and he’s there to respond to it.What I don't get is dressing Pezzetta. There is NO WORLD where his 5 minutes are more important than dressing 7 D's even if it's just in case that you lose a D along the game.
Who else would you put on the ice to close out a period in a close game? Has to be him and Matheson. What I don't get is dressing Pezzetta. There is NO WORLD where his 5 minutes are more important than dressing 7 D's even if it's just in case that you lose a D along the game.
I agree, though I have reservations about him starting in Montreal. I guess my point is that there are probably several improvements required, and while more scoring will help, that really isn't the priority.Reinbacher should really help with this. It’ll be his rookie year but he’ll still be an upgrade on Savard.
I guess. It’s just crazy to think 87 gets a spot.Yeah, well we all sucked. So it makes sense.
Yeah carrier is really a 5 that can fill in as a 4. I do believe Reinbacher will be either Hutson or guhles partner sooner rather than later. But Habs don't have anyone else in their system. They don't need a star or anything just a legit top 4 D. Maybe they use the TDL every year to get that piece when they're competing to limit the amount of huge contracts they have. IdkNor any strong top 4 RDs... Carrier is OK but ideally would be 3RD
Johnson saying 87 points might get a spot. That seems really low.
Realistically the Habs needHonest question... is #1 goalie as big a priority over summer as #2 center?
I think I've seen enough of Montanbault.
Hutson's ability to play RD really changes the future of this team. You can play a decent defenseman like Struble on his strong side with him for 20+ minutes a game, opening up the spot beside Reinbacher for a guy like Guhle. 2 strong pairings both capable of winning their matchups and playing a lot of minutes.Yeah carrier is really a 5 that can fill in as a 4. Helleybuyck, Vasilievksi, Oettinger, Thompson, Bobrovsky, Sorokin, Shesterkin (despite the tough year), Markstrom, who else?
Our defensive coverage was busted on that play too thoughI'm sorry but it's extremely hard to play winning hockey when a puck goes through your goaltender on a nothing play. Goaltenders stop that what 98 times out of 100? The bad goals killed us on Long Island in a game we should easily have had a RW in. It remains to be seen how will it play out in this one.
1# D? Mf have you been sleeping all through this season??? Both Guhle and Hutson are top 30 Ds in this league.Realistically the Habs need
#1 dman
#1 goalie
#2 centre
Improved top 6.
Improved bottom 6.
So, pick which one is the most important.
Michkov is on a heck of a tear. If he continues tearing it up, I can see him challenging Hutson for the win.Hutson has locked up the calder, right? Another multiple point game from him. I think our d is headed in the right direction, there's nothing wrong with Guhle, Hutson, Reinbacher, Carrier, Matheson, and struble/xhekaj.
I wouldn't have Hutson and Guhle together.
