1 game under .500 with 9 games to go; not bad with what will be over 500 man games lost to injury. As much as I hate to lose the draft position, I love to see us win.:hand

Agree.... After four wins in a row it's obvious the CBJ are not tankers.... If only they could win like this in October..

I was hoping for the 4th pick but it's looking like the 7th now.... Kudos to the CBJ for a great finish regardless of the draft..

My request, do this in October and November next season and you will fill the Arena!! :)

Great win tonight....

For starters, we are still at #6...dropping out of the top ten is unlikely even if we stay this hot (which is also unlikely).

Secondly, would you feel better if we were playing like Toronto spiraling towards oblivion losing six in a row and 1-8-1 in their last ten?

Thirdly, again read my post. Would you prefer Gilbert Brule at #6 instead of Anze Kopitar at #11?

Its not where you draft...its how you draft. There will be all-stars drafted up and down the first round...not just in the top six.

Tired of this tanking debate...

I was going through my nightstand drawer and decided it was time to toss my 2012 THN Draft Preview. Thought you might find this interesting since these guys are now in their third year since their draft. Just goes to show how much luck goes into getting the right guy regardless of where you draft.

#1 - Nail Yakupov: "Fail for Nail"...the consensus best player in this draft and a can't miss kid. He has played in the NHL all three years. He had a very promising rookie season with 17 Goals and 31 Points in 48 games. These last two seasons...11.5 Goals and 26 Points average. Obviously being stuck in Edmonton has possibly hurt him but he was the consensus superstar of the draft.

#2 - Filip Forsberg: Drafted #11 overall and then Washington stupidly traded him to Nashville for rental Martin Erat. This is Forsberg's first full season in the NHL and he has 21 Goals and 55 Points. Might turn out to be the best offensive player in the draft.

#3 - Mikhail Grigorenko: Drafted #12 overall because of the supposed "Russian Factor". Basically he has had three cups of coffee in three seasons with the Sabres. He is not very impressive even in the AHL. He has played 59 NHL games and has tallied 1 Goal and 3 Points.

#7 - Alex Galchenyuk: Drafted #3 overall after we took Ryan Murray second. He jumped straight to the NHL and has already tallied his 100th NHL point. That's 17 more than "Fail for Nail". This season alone he had 7 more Goals and 14 more Points than Nail.

#16 - Zemgus Girgensons: I think most of us noticed he made the NHL all star game this year. This is his second full season in the NHL and despite playing in 10 fewer games than Yakupov, he has more Goals and Points (very similar stats though).

On a side note...Dansk was rated higher than Subban. Dansk has struggled in the ECHL and AHL. Subban meanwhile has a 29-22-4 record in the AHL with a GAA around 2.39 and a .920 Save Percentage.

My point is...I am not going to worry about whether we draft #6, #7 or #8. If it isn't #1 or #2 overall...the scouts and GMs can get it wrong. It happens. It's not where we draft...its how smart we draft!

Solid post.

Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel are far better players than Nail Yakupov, however your point is absolutely valid. I would rather "settle" for a Werenski or Crouse (just for you haters ) and have them berthed into a competitive, winning environment. Edmonton is a fine example of what a bunch of high draft picks with no support will do for you. I love the direction of the Jackets, win at all costs!

Fun game. Really liked it.

Loved Wiz's acknowledgement of the crowd. The wave and kiss was something I was happy about. Was worried he would do what Rick Nash did and not even pay attention or acknowledge the crowd. He didn't, thank you Wiz!

Anyway. I thought the unsung heros tonight were Boll, Tropp, and Morin. Three guys I have been hard on this year. thought they all had great games. Boll may sit a game for that headshot but his fight really jumped the bench. Ducks were more focused on getting even than playing after, which worked for us. Morin made some great passes and was physical. Tropp didn't do anything flashy, he was just a pest and did his job.

Aside from Karlsson's assist, I thought he was meh. Didn't see anything special, he wasn't flying around out there, but I hope it was just butterflies.

Was happy for Hartnell, but his penalty to start the game was stupid as well as a few of Savard's dumb penalties. Aside from that, not too much to complain about.

Morin looked very impressive tonight and why is it troop only makes highlight plays ?

Couple of random thoughts

Now, I haven’t read any of our boards over the last couple days so excuse me if i say something already said.

Boone Jenner is the heart of the team and future captain. He just plays the right way EVERY game. Dubi is great and emotional but he isn't as consistent as Boone. We are lucky to have both of them on the team.

All the non fighting people ****. How many times have we heard from the coaches and players over the last couple games how fighting has changed the momentum and the game. All you Boll haters need to chill. Sure he is not the most skilled player but he is worth the salary.

We need to get meaner on defense. We need a big stay at home defenseman to clear the crease. Hopefully Prout can fulfill this if we do not find someone else.

Bob needs better protection. I'm tired of seeing Bob get ran over and bumped while everyone else just skates away. I'm not saying fight everybody, just let them know that you can't touch Bob.

When we play mean and physical we are one of the top 15 teams in the league if not top 10.

Screw the draft pick position. I don't care if we don't get a first round pick at all. Let Jarmo worry about that. This board has been horrible lately with all the tank talk. I say win out the rest of the season. Let the chips fall where they may.

Excellent game tonight. I wish we could play like this more consistently.

Peace out.

Commentators on NHL network said it was a clean hit. I guess time will tell

It's good to beat the Ducks. Perry is a hell of a player but he is just as much of a whiner and embellishes more than anyone in the league

No clue haha. He's a weird player. He'll go through some stretches were he's just ho-hum and another body, but then he comes back a while later with games like tonight. Wish he'd be more consistent because if he can he can be a 3rd liner instead of a 4th liner/HS/AHLer

Nice win. Very happy for Hartnell.
Karlsson first point for us in the first game. Holy crap, even Dano could not make it.
So, four games winning streak, I want to continue.

Really fun game to be at

Boll's fight really brought the team to life. Second time he has whooped Stoner this season

But of course we could have used the money we are paying Boll to bring in a savior fourth liner...

#CBJ win over Anaheim gives them wins over 3 top teams in Pacific in last 6 days. CBJ has wins over 12 of 16 #NHL playoff teams as of today.

So, we have not win against Montreal, Isles, Winnipeg and Smasville in this season. Or I'm wrong?

I love this team. Hartnell is an amazing pickup. Boone's presence is invaluable.

As everyone has said, it was a fun game. I'm glad that I went.

My thoughts:

1) Johansen is just an outstanding young player. He is so strong on the puck that it's scary. Foligno is also so strong on the puck. These two should always be on the same line. Puck possession monster duo. Hartnell is a smart player and will score 30+ next season if paired with these two.

2) Johansen has matched last season's point total already. So much for regression.

3) Hartnell is a blast to watch. Sure, the facial he gave early on wasn't the smartest thing to do, but it sure was fun to watch. First hatty in 3 years at NWA. 'nuff said.

4) Boll had a great game outside of the fight. 40 or so games a year with this Jared Boll could be an asset to the team. 70+ games of JB clearly is not. But, what a fight. Wish he would have gone for the KO.

5) About one out of five people at NWA stood up for Wiz. Over half stand up for any random military cop who spent his whole career in Dayton. Don't know whether to laugh or cry.

6) Jackets 8-2 in last 10 games. Roster not decimated by injuries over this stretch. Richards....a) has not "lost the room" b) systems are just fine c) is very good at developing young talent.
