Post-Game Talk: GAME 72 - Down and Out in Beverly Hills - Los Angeles 7 BRUINS 2

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

as much as I find conversing with you to be a chore, I do think your takes are generally great - this one though...can't wrap my head around it. How would a guy who's proven very little, had an abysmal season, displaying attitude problems (of which, any and all will be known within the league, eventually, perhaps not to us but it will be known there) and costs 8.5 million on the cap for the next 7 years not need to be packaged in order to be taken? There is no way the Bruins can get something of value back if they don't add to that deal

also, the very act of shopping him hurts his value, all things considered.

that said, perhaps all they'd need to retain is salary and I'd be ok with that.
As much as I have no opinion on conversing with you since I don’t remember doing so at all, this narrative on Swayman as a whole is a giant negative opinion being presented as some sort of list of facts. The idea that no one would trade assets for a young goalie like Swayman is just patently false.

Well, if that's the case I'm taking calls on him.

Sure I would too. Not saying the return versus the probability that this season was a train wreck all around and he’ll be better next year is worth it. But you have an entire year and the offseason leading up to next years draft to deal him before his protection kicks in.

What does any of this have to do with my post? I haven't said anywhere that he's lived up to his current contract have I? No, I haven't. The difference is, I'm looking at things objectively and not emotionally. I'm not jumping ship at the first sign of water like many others are. If Swayman puts up another year like this next season, I'm concerned. Just like players have career best years, players have career worst years.

Just like I'm not jumping ship on Swayman, I'm not jumping ship on Lindholm. Objectively, he's in his first season with a new organization. He's been bounced around with his linemates and is now playing with bottom 6 players and prospects. With all that he's still looking at 42pts this season, which on the surface isn't great for a guy you expected to be your 1C this year. With that said, he's 3rd on the team in expected goals, 3rd in scoring chances, 2nd in high danger chances, and 55% in the dot. He's playing a strong 200ft game this year as well. So while the "box score" numbers don't wow you, the lack off offensive production could very well be more bad puck luck than anything.
This is his first year, that is the excuse, what is a freshman in high school. He is playing with bottom six because he proved he is not a top six, 55 % on the dot, I appreciate the importance of winning face offs, but what is more important is what you do when you win it. 200 ft game that is a well paid 200 ft game, and I just don't see the 200 ft game, you do know that that part of that 200 feet is in the offensive zone. More excuses for this guy He must love Swayman, taking some of the focus away from him.

The elephant in the room. We aren't allowed to bring it up but what is the biggest division in our lives right now? I don't believe for a second that it isn't affecting the room, just like the rest of the world. I have said that in the past and people just don't want to believe it.
I don't buy that for one second. If that's the case most every team would be dealing with it and not jyst Boston. They just have sucked.

Swayman sucks. Build his value next year (as much as possible) and dump his ass. Unless some sucker wants to take him.
One day when Swayman is old and gray, he can teach his grand kids how to shit the bed ..and still make lots of money

Was Rask not sharing time with Tim Thomas? The 2012-2013 season was the first season where Rask was the #1 Goalie and in that season he started 34 games.....and had a loaded team in front of him.

Yes but he didn’t get paid until after that cup run, which management at the time pretty squarely put on Seguin (even though Horton was injured and Julien chose to keep Seguin with Peverley instead of putting him up with Krejci and letting him wheel) I remember Sweeney walking out of the room shaking his head when they chose to trade Seguin, but maybe I’m misremembering and it was after the phone call where they hear Horton wasn’t returning it

This actually doesn’t surprise me at all, a lot of your posts come off as if you’re just kinda on autopilot, arguing just to argue

But in any case, you’re moving the goal posts, as your original post claimed he isn’t a “negative value contract” that would “require other assets to move”

Now you’re saying no one would trade assets, which I didn’t assert and wasn’t the original premise. Someone might trade assets, but we’d have to give/add to it which could make it a bad deal overall

Folks relax. Double up on meds if watching the Bruins

This is a 30 day tank to get Desnoyers or Frondell or McQueen etc

Celtics did it, Red Sox did it, Patriots did it ….teams do it

It will be over in 3 weeks and we will know our pick

I suggest not watching and pretending their is honor in this shit

It’s all about the best opportunity to get a high pick
Anyone have video of the equipment guys cutting Zadorov’s stick on that brutal giveaway from a few weeks ago?

That was pretty much the start of the tank

You just have to watch the rest of the season as a comedy and it’ll be the best comedy of 2025

That doesn’t make sense. I’m saying that the Bruins would not have to add to Swayman just to get someone to take the contract. Any deal with any player could involve something else going the other way. The original premise is that we’d have to add to trade Swayman - which makes it a negative value contract.

Jeremy Swayman is the current most hated Boston athlete.

The whole team sucks as well.

What a time
One positive for Swayman is that he'll likely get a chance next season to turn his game around with the Bruins, and if he can make a comeback resembling his 23/24 season, he can win the fans back ..to a certain point

..but if he keeps playing like dogshit, the fans and media will run him outta town like they did to Tim Thomas

So, if I was him, I'd work my ass off (with goalie Bob) in the summer and training camp to get back into top-notch shape to show the fans that this terrible season was just a one off

I have no problem with what Zaddy said. It’s been well known for a long time that he speaks his mind but I don’t think he understood the question.

He definitely understood the question.

If Sacco had any guts at all, he'd be making Zadorov watch the Anaheim game from the press-box. To send a message to keep his mouth shut. I'd love to speak my mind at work too, but there is this thing called consequences.

Maybe we are starting to see why Zadorov is on his 5th team in 6 years.

Very good numbers in split duty playing 40ish games a season.
And this was the biggest problem I had with this contract. He was excellent at times, but he has split pretty evenly with Ullmark. He hadn’t really proven he could take the majority of games. I think they put way too much stock in his playoff performance last year. Everytime he started to play well this season and they rode him for more than 2 games it was almost guaranteed that third game was a stinker. So he really still hasn’t proven yet he can handle a load.

I also acknowledge it’s a very bad team in front of him too. Goalie is only as good as the team in front of him and a big reason you don’t pay big bucks either.

He definitely has negative trade value due to the length and numbers of his contract. Add to the fact he has the worst save percentage in the NHL as a starter and was a contract problem then what GM in their right mind is giving up assets for that. None. Their best hope is a better team in front of him and he bounces back.

Comment with Zads is definitely a bad sign in that locker room. Sacco muffin a challenge may also have played with the overall frustration with the players. They need to clean house in the coaching staff and get some leadership type players in the off season.

This? This is your entire argument to what I posted? It's not even worth the energy to keep this going with you. You have no interest in having a objective conversation. You just want to kick and scream about the players you don't like and say "I told you so" about contracts.

Enjoy the rest of the season.
