It's coming from the a subset of fans. This subset is so irate that Swayman had the audacity to do an interview during the summer that they want him to be the root of evil. Its mind blowing to me how goalies get treated in Boston. For years you'd have though Rask was a mass murderer the way some people talked about it. Fast forward and Swayman was a fan favorite less than a year ago. He gets paid in the off-season and then becomes public enemy #1 for this subset of Bruins fans.

You're completely missing the point. I can 100% guarantee you that you would hear absolutely nothing about those summer interviews or his negotiation at all, if he was posting a .920 sv% instead of being the worst goalie in the entire league.

If Swayman was such a divisive presence on the team, you would think, with the season lost, why wouldn't they trade him at the TDL? Could have got some very good assets, and finished out the season with Korpi + Depi. Or does he have an NMC?

I think we have been spoiled with top notch goaltending and pretty good luck with goalies for so long that when the guy they went with seems shaky after a big contract and being one of the more vocal guys about wanting what he felt he's worth it's a foreign concept to us fans. I think it's fair to give the whole team a mulligan this year but I think it's also fair to be critical of Sway's on ice performance this season as the same with almost every other player on the team. Hopefully no one is getting married or has a late offseason European vacation planned.

He was still a fan favorite, until he stepped on the ice and was showing them that he able to do the job, he was paid to do.

His NMC kicks in July 1st. Maybe the problems in the room happened after the TDL?

Not sure anyone could have absorbed that salary. Also, those who could will wait until the draft. They will try and get Boston to attach a good asset to take on the contract.

I don’t think the no trade happens until year 2 of the contract, so if they are thinking of moving him - this draft would be the time.

That is a simply terrible look for Zadorov. Competitive nature aside, displaying your disgust at another brutal loss is one thing. That response? Unacceptable.
The more I watch it the more he seems annoyed with the question more than the player the question is about. He came here for playoffs and really wants to win I'm sure he's pissed off in general and every loss means less time to compete for a spot to these guys who don't give a damn who the top picks are in the draft. However if it is him being snarky about a teammate to media instead of handling it as team could be a clue why he bounced around a lot. Just a shitty situation as I like them both but both have plenty to work on for next year.

Definitely about getting best pick possible but boy o boy the Bruins upper management has been exposed. They have alot of work ahead of them in order to get the fans behind them again. This is one heck of a bad job.
It won’t matter at all by Halloween with majority of fans

I pay I’m going to 2 or 3 of last 4 home games.

I love the Bruins and this season is washed - however, there are learning and silver linings and that’s where I’m at. I want to see as many of the kids as I can and the new players.

I want to be at 6-8 before draft

Privately I’d say a bunch of bullshit about trying to win and yada yada but I know
Talent wins
Talent is found more often than not in the top 10 picks

That’s because the team in front of him sucks and can’t play defense worth a lick.
Obviously that's part of it, and having McAvoy, Lindholm injured and Carlo traded won't help.

But it's bigger than that.

He's been absolutely dogshit for the majority of the season. You cannot blame the defense entirely for that.

It'd be one thing when you see a goalie getting completely hung out to dry, but still making competitive saves every game. You take those numbers with a grain of salt.

But Swayman, literally all season, has given up stinker after stinker, and usually at absolutely back breaking junctures of games.

Defense hasn't help, but he's flat out sucked.

Swayman was in the Bruins net for 3 plus seasons. Coming off a great playoff performance. Pretty good track record. Certainly better than Korpi and Dipietro (who has none).
I hear what you're saying but he was never the starter for those years and Korpisalo was on a horrible Sens team. Kinda like the B's right now :)

Swayman is absolutely not a negative value contract that would take another asset to move. That’s hilarious.

I agree here 100% Dan 👍

I'm in the camp that Swayman divided the room.

When he signed just after the season started, the B's put together a promo video following Swayman onto the team plane. I was a little surprised at the lukewarm reception he received. McAvoy gave him the cold shoulder (before it was injured).

And there may have been cliques in the room previously. Ullmark was cryptic in his exit interview, even before being traded talking about a "revenge tour." There may have been a slight fracture in the room toward the goalies already.

The friendship between Swayman and Ullmark is a touching story; but Swayman has been particularly bad against Ottawa.

And was bringing back Lauko, who is friends with Swayman, an attempt to build back support? Swayman feels the need to fight for Khusnutdinov, who wasn't in the room previously and came over with Lauko?

And if I get an infraction for this, so be it. But posters, let's raise our game, too. What's going on outside is not affecting other rooms, who actually would be divided if that were the case.

Brad Marchand specifically requested to go to Florida, for crying out loud. Meanwhile the Panthers were chumming it up at the White House, including Bennett and Reinhart, Brady Tkachuk has become a folk hero in Ottawa no less, etc.

Hockey players are masters at compartmentalizing. Let's be like them.

Eh. I’m a simple man. Player X is dogshit, I’m gonna call player X dogshit.

Unfortunately 90 percent of the Bruins organization identified as Player X

I don't disagree with the bolded at all......the problem is the only person (some) fans want to be regularly critical of is Swayman.

This last 4 starts Swayman has a 6.25 GAA / .815 SV% (WOOF). In those 4 starts though he's faced the #4, #8, #11 & #15 ranked teams in the NHL. 3 of the 4 teams currently sit top 5 in their conference. We're rolling out an AHL caliber team and are surprised when top teams are lighting this up.

Interestingly the 10 games prior to that, Swayman posted a 2.50 GAA / .911 SV% / 2SO stat line. For reference his numbers for all of last season were 2.53 GAA / .916SV%. So he was playing to roughly where he was last year.....and he went 4-4-2 over those 10 games. Feel free to go back and those GDT & PGT and see how many people fixated Swayman being the reason we lost.

both can be true
Your right. It’s funny how now there are probably the same amount of people that are shitting on Swayman as the ones that wanted to just give him the money. This is what happens. It was so predictable that if things didn’t go right, it was going to be tough year on him and the team. I was on the anti money side. Having said that. We don’t know what the dynamic is in that locker room. I think Sway will figure it out. Not worried. It’s funny how this team just went into the toilet in a year….

Lots of reasons.

I am really going to watch how things go on and behind the bench.

Sway has not been great but come on guys this d is beyond bad. Forwards outside of maybe 5 players is ahl caliber.

But he is not producing those numbers.
