Giroux is such a solid vet... you can see him helping Crookshank and the two are starting to connect on some plays

Don't worry. Habs are also up 2-0 and the Canes are blowing out the Wings

I don’t know. First rounders can still be buggered up bad no matter how early or late. Normally late firsts get very overrated as lots miss.
I’m also still bitter about the 2021 draft and remember wishing we would’ve traded that 10th overall for a Sam Reinhart. A trade which Buffalo probably accepts seeing that they end up trading him that same July for Floridas 2022 1st and a goalie prospect. Who knows how it would’ve worked out in the long run had we snagged a Reinhart but can’t have been worse than this supposed ‘safe’ pick in Boucher
Even top-10 picks sometimes don't work out, but still the best way to build a team is through the draft where you can leverage time in the league to keep salaries down and surround them with solid veterans. One key thing not to do is give every player long terms 10 million contracts based on their potential, because they had a great year. It's as if everybody thinks the only way anybody will ever stay in Ottawa is if you over pay them and lock them up. There's got to be some balance there. Not saying some players aren't worth it (ex: Sanderson) but it seems it is most players with Ottawa. Let's just say proof of the issue is the point standings given we are a cap team. There may well have been some overestimation in play.
