I understand Bath was still feeling the ankle, but to me there was a ton of bad decisions made on the ice that were not due to bad skating.

He only disclosed that today . It would help explain some, not all , of his season
He was hurt at the end of January last year, started really playing better about mid Feb this year, seems like the timelines line up fairly well

I find that they are looking relaxed, and just playing hockey. I know it sounds weird, but I always remember Brian Murray telling his squad, when they had Chris Jelly as the No. 1 Center due to injuries , exactly that to his team.

Maybe they have resigned themselves to the odds , and have decided to just play hockey

WHen you have an injury or aren't feeling 100%, psychology gets to you, and makes you more prone to desperation, which causes brain farts. Many people make a ton of poor decisions due to sorrow alone, when you're also physically injured, it affects you more.

They definitely are a very emotional team but there's other factors here at play. You might disagree but a good coaching team knows how to better motivate their players and keep them more even-keeled. I don't like overly dominating coaches but DJ is way too passive. We need a veteran guy behind the bench next season.
I think they need a new coach with more structure. However maybe you need to look a little deeper not every single thing is the coach's fault.

So you've never played hurt.

When you can't skate the way you should or experience pain when skating, it throws off your whole game, I'm not saying it excuses his defensive lapses completely, but if he's second guessing if he can get somewhere on time, maybe starts cheating to compensate, it will throw a wrench into things. He didn't do a good job of adapting and playing within his means while not 100%, that's on him to be sure, it's a skill in and of itself,

Batherson has 55 pts in 70 games, that's pretty damn good given he has been trying to get healthy all season. The minus sucks but young teams make mistakes, they are definitely getting much better. The difference has been the 5 on 3 where they scored.

Nah I'm seeing a team that has all the tools but no one to put it all together.

Well, that and a bottom-6 that isn't barely AHL level.

Ulmark is amazing. We would be in a playoff spot if our goalies had those kind of numbers!

When does an injury stop being an injury? He had a high ankle sprain, it takes a year to fully heal. Seems like semantics.

The thing is, it didn't prevent him from getting 55 points, so I find it hard to believe it's responsible for making him horrible on defense.
