Dano isn't going to be just an NHL player. He is going to be a star !!!

Exciting stuff. Good to see Wennberg and Dano having good games. It was a good win without 7 regulars.

Dano has been our best forward since he's been back. He's here to stay.

Dano Wennberg Hartsy with a nice game. It would have been sweet to see marko shoot and get the hat trick on the passs to Hartnells goal but hey it was a nice assist couldn't be more excited for that line next year.

Well, with the exception of us and Dallas the other Tankers lost last night, so yea, looks more and more like we will stay in that 6-7 slot no matter what we do. Jersey and Philly are creeping down on us, though.

Wennberg and Dano looking good. That line should be taking some heat off the RyJo line.

My question is, why the hell can't we do this at home?

According to Sports Club Stats if we win our next 11 games we have a 0.2% chance of making the playoffs. If only we could play them all on the road.

What do you propose we do?

I am hoping that he says we should do this:

What do you propose we do?

Evaluate all the players, contracts, etc.
Figure out when the team could be ready to win - my estimate is 2016-17 but again not my job so others may say 2017-18.
Go back and review players/contracts and see who fits in that timeline - and figure out what we are missing. Sometimes contracts will limit this, sometimes age, sometimes free agency, etc.
Get what you can out of those that don't fit when possible.
Don't try to be competitive next year just to do so - only add players that fits into the plan to be good in the future. If a player isn't part of the solution, don't use resources on them (dollars, contracts), but fill in with short term contracts as necessary to fill out the roster (can also to be to evaluate high potential players who could fit in). Sometimes you may need to sign resources for players (think like Kevin Dineen early on) who bring the right work ethic to help the kids, but don't over commit on too may long term contracts for players that won't be valuable when team needs them.

That's my solution - never has been CBJ plan. Who fills in holes each year thinking "one player makes us a playoff team".

I said this in the Oilers thread that this team when healthy is a top half team in the league. They proved that last year. Still playing this well without Calvert, Dubi, Jenner, Clarkson and Murray.

I have to say, I am now getting concerned about Murray. Does he have chicken legs or something?

That said, the Wennberg line is playing as well as any line in the league right now. Dano was very good. He'll be a 20 goal scorer next season because he's not afraid to go to the dirty areas. Hartnell looks like he's having a lot of fun with those kids. Wennberg is the straw that's stirring the drink with that line. I believe in the last behind the scenes draft edition the year Wennberg was drafted, during his interview he said that his game compares to Niklas Backstrom from the Caps. I'm not saying he's going to be Backstrom, but I totally see the similarities.

I hope they keep winning. Sure there's no pressure, but if they accept losing, all the culture work they've done in the past couple of years will be washed away. Give the fan base something to look forward to next year. I really don't care about the draft any more. I've reached the point in my fandom that I only want to see winning and while prospects are important, I'm tired of talking about the draft. I want to see us pick in the low first round, or here's a thought, last in the first round because we're busy putting banners in the rafters.

I'll give him that fighting sometimes sparks a team. But this also means that 1) You don't need Jared Boll around to do it, and 2) Dorse really shouldn't have fought Tropper. Momentum is zero sum, so that means if fighting is good for momentum, it's also really bad. I do not expect Ca5150 to get this or to ever criticize a fighter for giving momentum to the other team.

That's not always true at all, I don't expect you to get this, but sometimes a good fight sparks BOTH teams! In this case it sparked us MORE! And you do need Jared on your team because Corey Tropp did ok against little Dorsett but he would get his face smashed in by the heavyweights that would be taking liberties with our guys if we didn't have Boll. Again, I don't expect you to get that. But I do understand you have to pick the right moment for a fight and for Dorse, probably not a great idea in that instance.

Pierre McGuire spent a fair amount of time discussing the Tropp fight on XM NHL Radio this morning. His take was that it was a major turning point in the game and that as fighting becomes more rare, a dust-up like that can become a bigger emotional lift for a team.

One of these days everyone will realize the importance of fighting and toughness;)

Toughness? Absolutely!

Fighting? Occasionally.

I think this is the key, as it becomes less of a sideshow attraction, the significance of the occasional scrap may increase.

We need to get a new cheer going at NWA...lower bowl yells "Markooo" and the upper bowl replies "Danooo". How cool would that be?

It wasn't upper and lower but this has happened the last two games at NWA.
