Since it's Saturday and I have nothing better to do, here are the adjusted standings giving better credit for quality of wins and every game being worth the same amount of points:

TeamGPRWOTSOWLOTLPtsPts NEW
Vegas Golden Knights69311121690121
Edmonton Oilers6936223884120
Los Angeles Kings69301020989119

Minnesota Wild68281121886113
Seattle Kraken6830823783113
Colorado Avalanche67271222684111
Winnipeg Jets6929928379108
Calgary Flames69256241476101
Nashville Predators6625925775100
St. Louis Blues682283356587
Arizona Coyotes6919732116382
Vancouver Canucks6718113356381
Chicago Blackhawks681683865470
Anaheim Ducks69131036105669
San Jose Sharks6914536145266

If the Preds won all three games in hand in regulation, they would be up on us by one point. The Flames would be pretty much out of the picture as they should be.

It's not a WILD difference, but it is significant.
I think if you did this you would need to take the gimmickry out of OT. Go 10 minutes 5 on 5. If no one scores it is a tie. 2 points for win 1 for tie 0 for a loss. Every game is then weighted the same.

But then you have games with different amount values again.

Honestly id just go back to the old way but do 10 mins 3v3

I don’t consider this must win but I think it’s the most important game of the year to date. A win for us on the road in their barn would be big.

For the first time this year I have some nerves.

No the wouldn't. Any type of win is 2 points, regulation or OT. Any type of lose is 0 points, regulation or OT. Tie is 1 point each. All games have a total of 2 points. Just my thoughts as someone is not a fan of the current OT gimmicks of 3 on 3 and shootouts.

Since Perfetti has been out..
I was curious, not reading too much into it.

2 W
6 L
1 SOL
1 OTL
We’ve had lots of bad luck along the way as well.

Kid is a responsible all around player and is an high end playmaker. We could definitely use both attributes right now.

We could also really use Duboisnplaying like he was the first half of the year.

Here's what I think:

I think we should have overtime, 3v3, for 10 minutes. At the end of ten bonus, if the score is still tied, both teams go home with 1 point. No more 3 point games and no more of that stupid shootout.

I think the Jets are going to win this afternoon, but it won't be close.

I think I'll get up now and go have a shower.

You know what's horseshit? The Jets are 7 games above real 500, the Flames are 7 games below real 500 and somehow the Flames are only 3 points back of us.

I'd rather go back to ties as a final result, and 0 points for an otl.

At the very least, they need to weight importance more. 3 points for a reg win, 2 points for a ot or so win and 1 point for an ot/ so loss. How can some games have 2 points in the table and some 3?
I agree - all games should be worth the same amount of points. A regulation win is 2; OT win is 1.75 (loser gets .25); SO win is 1.25 (loser gets .75).

Well OK, maybe it's not a "must win," but it's a must win right? Right??

Wrong.

This is obviously a must win.

It’s not.

If we lose, we’ll grumble and be negative but there is plenty of games to secure the playoff berth.

If I was to bet who would make the playoffs between the Jets, Preds and Flames, I would still bet on the Jets even if they lose today.

Interesting that you count Jets OT wins as a “real” win.

FYI, Jets are 9-3 in OT and Flames are 6-14. If there was no such thing as OT, and everyone just got 1 point if it was tied at the end of regulation, guess what? Winnipeg and Calgary would be tied in points right now.
