Oh no i'm aware of how bad the bad is (Chicago especially) but when you see those type of bad teams, they usually have an artificial inflation effect on everybody else's wins totals. That's not really the case for most of the league.

The best example of this as i pointed out is admittedly from another league but baseball's AL Central has been doing this for years. So many years that division spit out a paper tiger because they'd get to 90+ wins just by beating the shit out of the Royals, Tigers and White Sox who would then be immediately blown out in the playoffs when playing actual competition. Last year was probably most egregious when a historically bad White Sox team essentially elevated a pretty meh Cleveland team to a division title and let two really mediocre KC and Detroit teams in the playoffs.

With Chicago and San Jose being so bad you'd think you'd see the west as a whole have higher than projected totals but outside of the Central's top 3, nobody has really taken advantage of it.

Vegas doesn't have the depth they once had, Edmonton has reverted to "eh let McDavid and Drai figure it out" after depth got them to the cup final (gee that sounds familiar) and LA is just mid. Calgary and Vancouver also have zero business being anywhere near playoff spots.

Definitely a division that benefits from Bettmans setup.That said,Edm will get Kane and Freddy inserted and walk right through LA & Vegas is my bet even with Skinner in nets.Honestly I think only team in their way is Colorado .They had no Draisaitl tonite and lost in OT to Jets giving up 20 shots .They own the Jets historically so I would not bet on Jets myself but lots are picking Jets.

Dallas is my pick to come out of the west. They already had an embarrassment of riches offensively and then decided screw it, let's add one of the best wingers in hockey.

Hintz and Rantanen coming off the rush is going to give teams nightmares in a 7 game series. Winnipeg i think gets past round 1 because Minnesota is meh, but i think they lose to their opponent in round 2 regardless of who it is.

That's fair but they get Colorado right away with no Heiskanen
