Shea Weber - 49th overall
Claude Giroux - 22nd overall
MSL - undrafted
Duncan Keith - 54th overall
Jamie Benn - 129th overall
Zach Parise - 17th overall
James Neal - 33rd overall
Joe Pavelski - 205th overall
Tuuka Rask- 21st overall
Cory Perry - 28th overall
Ryan Getzlaf- 17th overall

Point being is that you can draft quality players outside of the top ten. But, when you trade away all of your opportunities to draft those players, well, you end up being the NYR.

Cute response. 5 of 11 of those players were drafted within the first round. The rest have zero bearing. Do you know that the number of players who don't make it is substantially larger than the players that do make the NHL (Im not even talking about a star, Im talking about a player who plays a few games)?

You are trusting the management team that when it had the 10th pick, picked Dylan McIlrath over Fowler & Tarasenko. Why should I have any faith that they would do better later on when it becomes more of a crap shoot? Cherry picking 11 Star players over the last 10-11 years shows nothing. We could have had Giroux. We didn't pick him. We took Sanguenetti instead.

I want this team to win. I don't give a **** about the first this year. I want us to make it to the ECF. Even if we lose. I could careless. I want to see this team go as far as possible.

I just hope Hankie doesn't choke tonight..please do not pull a game 5 ECF two years ago.

I think the team will step up, they know what this game means.

I'd bring Diaz back, he played really well whenever he got the opportunity.

I was thinking that too, honestly.

Scratch Miller, and dress Diaz. Double shift MSL, Nash, D. Moore, Zuccs as needed on the Richie line.

Play Diaz on the PP, and give him spread out shifts on D. We have last change, so choose those shifts wisely. Neutral zone and offensive zone starts.

Well, not terribly if you consider the fact he's been our best forward.

He'll be around for at least one more year, many posters (myself not included in that just yet) believe even more after that.

I wouldn't call trading two draft-picks "decimating" your system. But, to each their own.

Ending your post by being dismissive doesn't help your argument.

MSL has not been a difference maker. He is very good, but it was too much to pay for him.

This current roster is the result of some good fortune. Getting McD as an add-in, Zucc turning out to be better than expected, Brass and Poo playing the best hockey of their career. All great moves without foregoing draft picks.

But, it is a recipe for mediocrity. We need a strong system to develop young players. Trading away your draft picks does not help this cause.

On paper, it is far from a mediocre team.

It's just performing like one right now.
The median is 15th overall. The Rangers finished 12th, 2 points better than 13th. This series is tied 3-3.

Median= mediocre. They are slightly better than mediocre.

What are you talking about? People were dismissing trading away our mid-late first round picks, so I provided examples of those and other great players picked even later.

So many posters just dismiss the draft, which is a mistake. Instead, people like you want an endless cycle of high priced free agents who fail to produce.

For me, its the Cup or bust. Not really into the second or third loser thing. Dolan, though, yep, he would love an ECF loss every year. Plenty of playoff money.

Most don't disagree with that but it is what it is. We are not in charge of this team. To hope we don't make it to the ECF as some have suggested is a ridiculous remedy to our lack of draft picks problem.

I don't agree with the idea of not making it to the ECF either. That deal is already done.

I just hate the idea of having one of the worst farm systems in the league.

Our PP is laughable, it's like they don't know what to do. We wont advance with a broken PP, this has to be fixed, AV needs to do some changes.

We may actually be eliminated tonight, I didn't believe that after game 5.

I'd bring Diaz back, he played really well whenever he got the opportunity.
On this point, if MCD is so hurt that his play has been affected this much, then maybe sitting him out in favor of a healthy Diaz cannot hurt.

Also, I know that Hagellin has two goals, but to me he is still being invisible. And when will Nash remember that it is perfectly legal to drive to the net and shoot within the circles, as opposed to playing the entire game on the outside?

0 for the last 18 on the power play.

I think Nash smokes pot. And I'm not kidding.

He has the "whatever" demeanor of Jeff Spicoli. He smiles when asked serious questions about a dire situation.

He has a charmed life, and things have always come easy to him. He is used to losing in the NHL, but the game itself comes easy to him. When the opposing teams make it difficult for him to do what he "can" do, he just cruises until the next easy opportunity presents itself.

Lose? Go home? No big deal. He is still a big, young, good looking elite athlete with tons of money and everything that goes along with that.

Our hero he aint.

MSL on the other hand seems to me like he burns for the wins.

JMHO

He looks like a hamster. Cute, but not good looking. That being said, he really needs to get **** done this game. Just finish one ****ing check for the love of God!

And finding talent after the 1st round in the draft isn't good fortune?

HF, where you can have it every way you want it as long as it helps your argument!

I was being dismissive because I have no further intentions of discussing this with you past this post.

Hoping to see Diaz in for Stralman. No other changes in terms of new personnel. Also hoping for AV to separate Nash and MSL.

Hagelin-Stepan-Nash
Miller-Richards-MSL

Enough of this ****.

Believe. Playoffs are a test of resiliency and attrition. This is our first test. If we fail, we really weren't contenders, and there's nothing to feel bad about.

Yeah, that is what you said two posts ago.

The idea that you think so little of building a system is all the information that I need to know.

Agreed with everything but the bold part. There will be plenty to feel bad about if we lose.

Assuming the construct of let's say, I forfeit the 2014, 2015, and 2016 Rangers 1st round draft picks and 100% guarantee an appearance in ONE OF the '14, '15 or '16 ECF.

AND

None of those 1st round picks end up being top 10 picks?

I would in a heartbeat.

Some world you built there

;)

It's just coming to terms with something that would have disappointed us more in the future.

That being said, I have faith. I hope it is restored by them tonight.

They've lost 10/11 here. We don't like playing there? More like they don't like playing here.

They have to try something different on the PP. I'd advocate bringing Diaz in but the two worst defenseman have been McShoulder and Girarderp so you can't really bench anyone else. They could dress 7 I suppose. Either way the PP is stale and they need to change it up.

Absolutely PUTRID!

A lot of you told us that the PP problems were over with Torts out the door. Maybe not.
