Thought I would put this up. Hellebuyck is now considered the worst playoff goalie in NHL history. There is a chance that the Jets will need to score 5 goals to win, if Helle plays in net.

Or should we go with Comrie? He is not great, but Comrie is playing much better. The Blues also have figured Hellebuyck out. With Comrie, he may be able to steal the game for us. I am aware that the Jets will likely start Hellebuyck, but if YOU were coach, who would you play?

Opinion. Its not up to me, but it will be Helly, despite his poor play. Coms is a decent backup, but without the Jets in normal suppression mode (what mode are they actually in?), he will get diced. Neither will get it done as is, and has been mentioned above, unless Helly gives the Jets an average game (may it please the Gods). An average game by Coms will bring similar doses of pain methinks.

-average Helly game = no shortside looks, and fighting through the screen, top cheese snipes will happen

Maybe I'm wrong about Comrie.

If your Game 7 was in STL, Com for sure, no question. For whatever reason, Helly at home is a different goalie, just give him early goal support.

Good luck!
Hellebuyck has been shaky at home as well and let in some terrible goals. It's just the Jets are able to respond extremely well even under pressure at home it seems, whereas on the road the moment Hellebuyck lets in a bad goal, the Jets collapse. Like in game 5, after the Blues tied it from a terrible goal, the Jets dominated the Blues and would have effectively won 5-2 if not for a dumb 3rd goal. But on the road, the moment Hellebuyck allowed a terrible goal, the Jets panicked, and they allowed 2 more goals quickly.

It will be Helle, as it should be.

Comrie might steal a game 7 at home, then you gotta go with him in round 2 again, but he will not bring us to the promised land.

Yeah, Helle is very shaky atm, but still better chance the switch suddenly flips mentally for Helle, than Comrie suddenly becoming a top goalie.

It will be and should be Helly.

If Helly plays well and the Jets win game #7, we can hope that maybe Helly has found his way and might be better starting in round 2. We will have some hope.

If Helly plays and shits the bed on home ice, gets pulled again, and the Jets lose round 1... then we can start some serious discussions as to if the Jets even keep Helly going into next season. Do the Jets want to keep him for the next 7 seasons knowing Helly can't perform in the playoffs?

But, that's a rant from me after the season is over.

I am sure it will be helle. Too late now to experiment. It would be interesting to give comrie a game if somehow we get to round 2.
But helly has studied the position more than anyine else! The the game to do it was yeaterday but they would never to that to primmadonnabuck
How is this even a question?
This fan base is so infuriating most days.
I still can’t figure out why i hang here.

It’s Hellebuyck 1000000%
Really ? You are not concerned about how the team played in front of him on the road these past 5 games? And how he responded.
I guess a 725 save percentage makes some feel more confident than others

Almost certainly we'd do better with Comrie. But the implications are potentially damaging in the long term. With 7 years on that deal, for better or worse, we are committed.
You can always trade him especially if he is open to it, maybe we can do like a three way trade, send him home to the Wings and we try and get LB back once he is healed next season.

Not saying we should but there are still teams who could use his regular season prowess.

You just cannot play Comrie.

The only hope the Jets have if they want to fulfil their actual goal is to try to help Hellebuyck figure it out. Comrie might help them win game 7 but then what?

Sure, maybe you can piss Hellebuyck off and he comes back on fire, but you could also just absolutely destroy what little confidence he has left.

If you're a coach, its crazy to start Comrie, he sucks you look awful, he's great, you're amazing. Helly starting, he's great, coach is great for starting him, he sucks, its all helly's fault

Think again, if you are the person in charge of making that decision and you play Comrie and lose game 7. It's egg on your face. If you play Helle and lose game 7, you went with the body of work.

we've won all games at home with helle, I think the crowd noise does play a major role in his mental not having a bunch of chants after he lets a goal in may allow him to reset, elimination game you live or die with the guy who got you there
The MVP chant at home for stopping Mostly Visible Pucks is a bit on the nose, though.

I posted in the Game 6 post game thread that I can’t see a team wanting to trade for Helle. Yeah, he’s great in the regular season, but there’s a decent sample of games to show he just can’t level up in the playoffs. What team would want his salary and term when he can only take the team so far and no further?
I’m hoping to eat my words, and somehow, miraculously, Helle turns into Vezina Helle, starting with Game 7 versus the Blues, and all the way into the rest of the playoffs. Will this happen? I have better odds of winning the lottery.
