Right around when the WWF and WCW were starting peak in popularity. Pretty sure the chants came from that.

Then late 90s, early 2000s, you got the "********" chants.

Jesus Christ the officiating back then was beyond terrible.

It was bad for many years, Ziggy. Don't know why the league resisted a two-referee system for so long; I always considered the NHL as a bush league for the terrible on-ice officiating and the fact that the referee swallowed his whistle for entire third periods for a decade no matter what happened in the 3rd.

Thank God those days are long gone.
