GDT: Game 69 (snicker): Avalanche @ Habs, Saturday March 22nd, 7:00 pm | City, SNE, TVAS

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Agreed. We have to think longterm. We gain nothing by overworking Montembeault while not allowing Dobes to develop.

Especially since it's a game you are probably not expecting 2 points, though you want them.. so give Dobes a chance to steal it, give Monty the rest he needs to be sharp for the next eastern conference game, and at worst, he gets the rest and we just let 2 points go West rather than in our own conference.

Avs are a much better team than the edition we played in January. Everyone is healthy and they added Necas, Brock Nelson, Coyle & Lindgren since then.

They're 8-1-1 in last 10 games.

NYI play Saturday at 4 pm against Calgary. So we'll know how that game goes before this one starts. If Islanders beat Calgary & Montreal loses to Colorado, Islanders will take WC2 based on RWs.

Still, I don't consider this game a must win. If we can get another point, it would be hugely helpful, though. We have a fairly tough 4 game road trip next week.

I expect Dobes to start. Montembeault needs a few rest days.

This is why it hurts that Monty gifted them that win.. with mediocre goaltending, we win and pretty much end the Islanders chances of catching us.

At least the Avs are without their entire 2nd pairing since Girard and Manson are injured.

Love to see our young core rise to the occasion in this one...

While not a "must-win", it's very much a statement game to drive home the "we belong" message by beating one of the top cup contending teams that is red hot heading into April.

Fully expect a great game from Suzuki & Caufield, and can't wait to see how Slaf & Hutson respond to what will be the loudest arena they've ever played in.

& I bet Newhook has his best game of the year... Just a hunch.

Looks like Flames are planning to shock us amid the playoffs race. I suggest they start the shocking tomorrow afternoon against NYI.

Lots of scoreboard watching tomorrow... and I think Habs have the toughest match up. Sigh. Hopefully at least a point.

Avs are coming in fat and happy and are on the final leg of their road trip while playing their 3rd game in 4 nights.

I'm hoping for an off night based on that, but teams love coming into Montreal on a Saturday night, so it will be interesting to see how things go.

As I said in another thread, its better we had a dud game against a team like NYI who we still got a point out of it. If we played like that against a team like COL, then we'd certainly lose in regulation. Now that the dud game happened, I can see the team bouncing back with urgency win or lose. I'd of course prefer winning both games, but at least we know the guys should come to play coming out of a disappointing loss.
