GDT: Game 69: nice Red Wings at knights 8:00 pm et 3/22/25

    What This Means for You:

You may be right. I hope you are not. I fully knew a WC birth was about the absolute best case scenario this season if everything went perfect and this current situation was a reality. It seems next year could be very similar. Next year could be Motte/Smith/Berggren out and 1 kid, 1 free agent, 1 trade replacement. On the back end you would be hard pressed to find anyone take Holl or Gus for free and trading assets to go to the free agency market gives most of PTSD in the Yzerman era... Realistically it is Petry gone and Holl and Gus rotate as 7th D and they bring a rookie up as #6 after 10-20 games into next year who does a Johansson-esque break into the line up. Would not be surprised if they at some point have 3 goalies again at some point.

If this is his plan then please fire him now. No reason he shouldn’t be big game hunting at the top of the market this summer. Don’t care if you have to overpay he needs to get a couple elite talent players

Ben chiarot needs to be off this team next year. Hes so bad. He actually makes seider worse and worse at defense. I feel bad for seider having to play with him.

I agree with others. I hope at this point we just keep losing and drop to the 6th or 5th pick with some luck. I feel bad for kane because he's playing out there and yet many of the other players on the team just hurt us too much. But get another good draft pick and then Chris ilitch needs to sit down with Yzerman and tell him Montreal started their rebuild 3 years after us and yet look at them. We either make playoffs next year or someone else will take things over.

I agree with this. The excuses are done, he’s had long enough. No reason this team shouldn’t be a firm playoff team by this point. His decisions in FA have been a complete disaster

Glad I fell asleep to miss the rest of this one. Haha. Man Talbot is cooked. This team is cooked. Feel bad for McClellan actually.

Yzerman over the last ~14 months starting at last deadline is the worst GM in the league, or at least close to it

Apparently we are asking a lot. It really is crazy to think this is year 9 without a playoff game. Wouldn't shock me if this drought reaches Buffalo Sabres bad. I just don't see it changing any time soon.

Like our goalies to start next year are Talbot and Mrazek, and all these pylons on D are still signed. It's really hard to be positive with this team. 9 years of losing with no light at the end of the tunnel, but Yzerman will tell us all to be patient in his end of year presser. May as well just take a recording of his presser last year and play it again, he's gonna say the exact same things
