GDT: [Game #69] Dallas Stars vs. Philadelphia Flyers – 1:00 PM CT (Victory+)

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

I haven't seen it been done, but when the offensive player takes the net off on their own and the refs are waiting for said team to get possession to blow it dead, why doesn't the goalie go to the bench for the extra attacker?
That’s actually an interesting thought.

Oettinger is consistently weak from the right circle and against anything high danger. It's part of the reason why the team plays the collapsing style and gives up the boards. If anyone, especially on their offwing as a right hand shot gets a good look at his glove side high it usually doesn't go well. Also he's always had issues battling in the crease against high danger rebounds or scrambles.
Team defense needs to recognize the goalies weaknesses and limit those opportunities. Pretty clear they aren't doing that for either goalie, just DeSmith has a smaller sample size and probably isn't quite as weak there. Teams clearly going for those spots though, best chance to score on us.

It's one of those Lindell games

The Flyers probably have the worst goaltending in the league without looking it up

Esa buried that shit, keep the foot down and keep going, we need another win here

Esa is such a great Dallas Star, but probably one of the most punchable faces along the lines of a Matvichuk or Stars Great Sean Avery

Harley is so good.

I'm going to have to do some looking back at Stats history. I wonder if Harley is already the best or second best goal scoring defenseman in Dallas Stars history. Boucher for sure had two or three huge seasons, I don't think anyone else really comes close. Guys like Zubov and Klingberg were more assist driven.

Same type of question:

If a team gets called for too many men on the ice, why not just keep the extra guy on the ice?

Harley may pass Miro's career goal total with one more season

Boucher's bombs were so good.

Other teams probably attack that side on purpose because our RD is complete ass and everyone knows it. It's much easier to go through Ceci, Dumba, or Lyubushkin rather than Harley, Lindell, or Bichsel

I thought about that as a factor but it's also true that RD is weaker than LD across the league.

And Miro playing on the right is one of the top shot suppressors out there.
