GDT: [Game #69] Dallas Stars vs. Philadelphia Flyers – 1:00 PM CT (Victory+)

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Fun game. Place was packed. We clearly miss Heiskanen badly. Not sure we deserved the win, but I will take an ugly win over a pretty loss. Just keep winning. Still lots of games left and want to catch Winnipeg.

Bishop Arts is super gentrified now. Haven't been down in a while and disappointing to see but not unexpected after Deep Ellum. shame.

How much of this is related to defensive sides being so different, though? DeSmith not having the same chart challenges that notion, but there's a bit of the same pattern and DeSmith has a smaller sample size, especially without Heiskanen.
DeSmith doesn't have the same chart, but the weakness comes from the same side, just further out.

I'm guessing that DeSmith, as a much smaller goalie, struggles more with point shots and traffic that just end up hitting Oettinger.

And why the right side specifically? My hunch there would be because the Stars are weaker on faceoffs from the right dot in their own zone.

I haven't seen it been done, but when the offensive player takes the net off on their own and the refs are waiting for said team to get possession to blow it dead, why doesn't the goalie go to the bench for the extra attacker?
I seem to remember this question coming up at some point years ago, and someone (maybe a former ref?) said that the officials will immediately blow it dead if a team tries this. Basically, they don't want to take away a legitimate scoring chance that a team deserves, but also don't want to give them an undeserved advantage on said scoring chance.

It was a sellout, but as quiet as I have heard it in the last few years. They were outplayed about 70-80% of the game.

My seats are on the other end of the rink, so I didn't see the game winner clearly. When I saw the replay, I wondered if it was a set play to spring Robertson, having seen another team score in a few seconds in OT recently on that planned rush. On the other hand, if you are going to spring someone, would there be a better choice than JRob?

Yeah it's a set play. I can't remember whether Sanheim was lined up on the red line or not and every replay cuts the start of action off too tight. It didn't work as smoothly as when Seattle did it and obviously Ersson had to mess things up.

edit: I found a replay with the faceoff. Both Harley and Sanheim were lined up conservatively where they should be so it's not really the same situation as Montour's goal but they tried it anyway.

The Stars broke a goalie. Fedotov got pulled after giving up two goals on three shots yesterday.

He started today and gave up seven goals on 29 shots, which to be fair to the kid is an improvement over yesterday.

Torts was not happy.

I wouldn't say we broke him, he already was terrible

What is wrong with the bishop arts district. It has a few nice places to eat and hang out.

Nothing at all, I enjoyed it too. I was just surprised on the amount of luxury apartments springing up everywhere down there. I haven't been down since last summer I would guess and seeing how much has changed in that time period was surprising is all.

Dallas's population keeps booming. The growth is inevitable.
