Joey is taking 2.55 shots per game this year, compared to 2.89 shots per game last year. A 0.34 shots/game decrease.

He's also got a 12.5% shooting accuracy, down 1.4% from 13.9% last year.

So let's say Joey was shooting the same amount of shots per game as he was last year. He'd have 3 more goals on the season. That'd put him at 25 goals and 61 points on the year. If his puck luck was the same and he still scored on 13.9% of his chances, he'd have another 2-3 goals. That'd put joey at 27-28 goals and 63-64 points in 69 games.

Meanwhile, we've seen a large jump in his amount of assists. I think Joey is doing perfectly fine this season and is still on pace to set a new career high in points. He's just not shooting as much/as accurately as last season and that's OKAY.

Joey's in a little bit of a scoring slump right now after being one of the most consistent players in the league in the first ~55 games. He's not suffering from "Rick Nash syndrome".

It will be nice when we get Murray back on the PP. Hopefully we can start to reduce Savard's ice time.

Things I took away from this game:
1. The alt jerseys are obviously bad luck. Can't even beat Carolina in your home arena, nevermind the fact they're on the second half of a B2B....that's just laughable at this point. How many wins do the Jackets have in the 3rd jerseys this season, 2? ( I'm completely serious. Only wins I recall are against Calgary and the Caps ).
2. Bob allowed some weak goals.
3. Dano and Wennberg are going to be beastly next season.
4. I'm in agreement with the "Jackets have mailed it in". Only a few players look like they still give a ****
5. LOL @ Johansen's 18/19 faceoff wins, and the rest of the team's 5.
6. Last but not least, why must CBJ afternoon regular season games by so ****ing boring?

I think it is Nash syndrome.

Wait, now. I've heard for years that Nash syndrome is to float around and then turn it on once the games mean nothing. I don't think anyone knows what the hell Nash syndrome is, let alone be able to diagnose someone else with whatever it is.

I've wondered a couple times if he might be playing hurt. But I don't think so. I think it's mental. I don't think anyone has "checked out," but I do think the weight of the season has caught up to a few guys.

Let me explain what Nash syndrome means to me. Some games Nash was all world, some games everyone wondered if he was playing. To me that is Joey. Other than in faceoffs which he usually excels at, there are many games I don't notice him. When I watch other top players I notice them every time. I guess its a consistency thing and wanting him , not Dano and Hartnell, being the guy who is sparking the team. I don't see him as the emotional, fiery leader type that a Dubinsky is but it would be better if he brought it at top efficiency every game. I'm not arguing that he sucks, far be it; just that he is inconsistent in terms of effort or impact.

I see him the same way.. I've just learned to temper my expectations and have faith that he's actually still giving it 100% every game regardless of the stat sheet.

Your point #2 should carryover for all CBJ home games for the last two years.

Bob for whatever reason, plays much much better on the road. There are times when he lets in the softest goals imaginable (long distance) at home. Its hard to understand.

Change the lightinging in there or something. He's off his game at NWA frequently it seems

Hmm.......

Sure, it's a fact that Bob has played better on the road this season compared to playing at home.

But.... just in case you didn't know. Here's Bob's career numbers at our beloved Nationwide Arena!

He's played in 71 career games at Nationwide Arena. In those 71 games he has a GAA of 2.31 and an outstanding save percentage of .925. ... along with 5 shutouts.

Go Bob! :handclap:

It is an interesting point to bring up if lighting affects goalies... check out Bob's career stats at Rexall Place in Edmonton... an arena known for their extremely dim lighting.

In 2 career games, he's given up 9 goals... GAA of 6.15 and a save percentage of .786. .... yikes.

I think we all need to remember that while Joey is beasting it up a lot of the time, he's still young.

At least that's what I tell myself.

Why is it so hard to believe that Joey has just mailed it in? Just watch. He makes no effort to go inside anymore. He skates around the perimeter. He play half hearted defense. He quit.

It's part of the Nash syndrome. Took many people here a long time to realize all was not right with Nash and the Jackets. He's still young but there is something there (or not as the case may be) that needs to be righted before Joey hits full time superstar status. Hopefully it works out.

I agree with you.

Nash was coddled until Hitch got here - management just let him float (I remember Feds speaking up about the work ethic of both Nash and Z and Doug told him to keep his mouth shut).

Whether it's coaching and/or the right veteran teammates - someone needs to teach the youngsters to play the right way.

That being said losing is tough. So if the youngsters aren't being led it's not surprising.

I would have to guess, and mind you it's just a guess, that those who can't see this are mindless fanboys who can't see their own hand in front of their face. Amirite?

I was thinking that the reason Dubinsky was just put on his line -- which is an unusual step -- is because Dubi isn't going to tolerate floating.
