Brass's cousin tweeted me this morning with an agreement to get to OT and then fight for the 2nd point...so sure...

I think I speak for everyone in Montreal when I say that we have no problem with that. Anything for the Leafs to miss the playoffs :sarcasm:

R.J. Umberger will sit tonight for #CBJ. Cam Atkinson draws back in.

R.J. doesn't deserve it, but you can't sit coach's pet in Tropp, and R.J. doesn't do a whole lot 5 on 5 so no big deal. I hope he doesn't get more than a couple scratches down the stretch though. I like the idea of the coach spreading the scratches around to keep guys fresh and motivated.

I think you and whoever else mentioned it are right on. Its a speed thing. Montreal is a quick team and Umby, while improved, is as they say in the basketball world,1/2 a step slow.

I think Umby is actually decently fast this year, at least improved enough to be average.

With as many games as we have in a short period of time, it kinda makes sense to rotate press box duty to at least keep the 3rd and 4th lines fresh.

it makes no sense. no team rotates players who deserved to play as healthy scratches, especially when important points are on the line. scratching isn't done to keep guys fresh, its done because they can't help the team win as much as the other guys.

It absolutely makes sense to rotate guys, we have the toughest finish to a season in 34 years of any team. We need fresh legs, a lot of our guys are interchangeable. We need everyone to contribute. I would expect your boy to come back out tomorrow if he doesn't perform tonight in lieu of Boll and/or Umberger.

This isn't baseball. You don't rotate players in and out of the lineup on certain days. You scratch guys based on performance.

Please, name me an example of a team in recent history that went with a rotation.

Aren't you going to throw a fit over our, tied for third goal scorer, sitting for Comeau and Tropp like you did over Cam?

I never thought I'd see the day that I'd agree with something ca5150 said (other than, of course, cheers for the Jackets). Dayum. ;)

Few teams have the kind of active forward depth we do. I find it a tad puzzling myself, but it's not entirely unprecedented. Guys do get benched for reasons other than performance (historic or current) or anti-skill conspiracies, it's just really rare.

I don't know, but I want to hope RJ is sitting because he needs some time to heal something - rather than Richards wanting to "rotate" just because he has a lot of fresh bodies. Playing McK/Tropp/Comeau/Calvert ahead of him makes no sense otherwise.

Name a team in recent history that had a 14 games in 23 days schedule.

Umberger hasn't been as good as some of you are saying. I'd maybe have him in over Comeau but that's it. He's still bad he's just not blowing games like he did last year.

Agreed. He is amazingly composed and entertaining. Charming even. Lends a players perspective with humor and intelligence. I'm pretty pleased he's ours. (For now at least)
