GDT: GAME 67 | Senators @ Canadiens | Playing with the Big Boys Now Part 1 Edition | Tue Mar 18 2025, 7PM | TSN2, TSN5, RDS

Dude Ullmark lost them the game because he couldn’t cover the puck. Yeah the rest of the team didn’t play their best but the second period was legitimately good hockey.

A close loss after a 6 game winning streak if that’s the end of the world then what’s the point even watching this team?
Ullmark did not cost them the game. Habs had 4.97 expected goals to Ottawa’s 2.06. We did not show up tonight and the goaltending was the least of the problems

You realize the deserve to win o’meter actually had us dominating the Bruins more than the Wings dominated us? Tonight was worse than both. Going further back, Rangers game was the most lopsided of all, and it was in Ottawa’s favour.

So we dominate 2 teams (Rangers and Bruins), get a crazy goalie performance against the Wings, and then beat the Leafs in a good, even game, to give us a 97% chance of making the playoffs. Then play like shit and take a night off and suddenly the world is falling  never change
I did not see the bruins game as anything special. Swayman let in like 3 horrid ones and then we were soft all over the ice. And if not for Ullmark that game is 4-3.

Don’t act like I was positive and then tonight made me negative. I’m not fair weather. Signs of ass play have been there since the 4 nations and I have said as much

Come on dude!

Cheer up, we just went on a wicked winning streak. Even the best teams can't win every game. Let's hope we bring it Thursday against the Avs and continue on our trajectory towards the playoffs.

Sometimes a loss can be a good thing. I am sure Green will rip them a new one and they will go over the tape. I think they were just tired off playing playoff-like hockey for this whole month.
Someone should also rip into Green for making no in game adjustments until it was too late and refusing to scratch detrimental players.

The advanced stats are the advanced stats but it’s a tie game with a routine cover up and he flubbed it.

He has a mental block against the Habs. He can’t play well against them.

I feel like some folks thought we would win every game, or only lose a game because we got robbed.

We’re a wildcard team that was on the outside looking in a few weeks ago that battled its way to a nice chunk of breathing room above the teams chasing us.

We’re aren’t going to win every game, we just need to win most of them. It sucks losing to the habs, but hey, we beat the leafs last game sooooo…..

1. Amadio is arguably our best defensive forward.

2. Stützle PKed under DJ Smith and looked like a real threat doing so.

3. Zetterlund is saddled with 2 plugs on the 4th line playing 10mins/night. If Green won't elevate him, why not find him some minutes on the PK, given the fact that the current alternative is Highmore, who has the skills and hockey sense of an amoeba.

It's not an options issues. It's coaching.
I said this in the Green thread but I am pretty sure they use one right handed forward and one left handed forward on the PK together on purpose if you look at the pairings all year.

I think that has sort of thrown off the PK because we replaced Norris with Cozens. Otherwise I am pretty sure Green would have slotted in Cozens for Norris and called it a day.

So if you use that logic, Stützle and Highmore are the only real options to PK with Giroux since Greig-Pinto make up the second pair. I don’t think it’s that crazy for Green to not want to utilize Timmy there and instead save him for offensive opportunities.

Kinda think this one is on Staios considering he traded Norris, Ostapchuk and Gregor all in one day, three left handed PKers. Not saying he shouldn’t have done it but Green wasn’t left with an ideal situation there.

Avs like Montreal have dominated us as of late so I’m expecting a loss there too. We are not great at bucking trends.

Real focus needs to be on the Red Wings and Blue Jackets coming up. We can largely punch our ticket with 3 wins or so there.
well, we did beat the Hawks after losing in their building since forever. We also shut out the Canes on the road, when they've had our numbers. Let's hope we take advantage of the Avs having a weak bottom 6 and bottom pairing on a b2b.

Holy shit dude your negative energy is worse than usual. You really do need to step away from that ledge.
We’ve been poor but we’ve been winning. Which is great when you can then play great and still win.

It’s not great when you just play the same and then the poor play catches up to you

That team is not good. They have massive gaps in talent beyond 6 players. They have a bright future and a solid talent pool but currently they should not be a threat. Ottawa has a better team now, and a bleak future. Need to make the most of it now as in a few years its rebuild time again thanks to Dorion bleeding all our assets
The Habs have won a lot of games recently. They are certainly not a bad team. The Sens aren't bad either, what is with the bleak future talk? We are on pace for the playoffs for the first time in 8 years. We have a good team filled with young stars and potential for the future.

Sens went up 3-1 16 minutes into the game and then stayed up by 2+ goals the entire game. Ullmark made a big save but the Sens confidently led in every statistic the entire game, it was not very close.

Sens have put themselves in an almost guaranteed spot to make the playoffs with their points, reminding schedule and amount of home games.

Been noticing the sens have been letting their foot off the gas the last few games but still squeezing out a good result. Hopefully this game serves as a crucial reminder to play 60mins down the stretch.

Colorado is going to be tough…
It’s because Ullmark is stopping the puck in the third.

And these players are dumb as f*** they see the goalie make incredible saves and the probably think it’s good defence

Most of the high expected goals for is because of empty nets, that inflates things. I do agree Ullmark didn't cost them the game, but he never did anything to help them win either. Montreal definitely played better, but it wasn't nearly as lopsided as the 4.97 expected goals say.

lol bruins caused problems every time they crossed over our blue line. Which wasn’t often because our forecheck and cycle was incredible. But that doesn’t change how bad we looked defensively when the bruins DID get the puck

The only one Swayman let in that was questionable was the Kleven goal, and it wasn't super soft. Ullmark let in worse goals against Toronto and the Rangers ffs. Also despite Ullmark's desperation save, I felt he was a bit out of position and didn't track the puck well on either of the 3 goals he allowed. That evens things up.

Bro we are in the driver’s seat for a playoff spot deep into the season. This is literally the best hockey we’ve had in years lol.
last time we said that this team imploded.

Playing kinda the exact same way except Sogaard was in net and not Ullmark. And Ullmark cracked big time tonight

Whatever, out if all the bubble teams playing they’re showing the most. Rangers look like they’ve already given up and are likely cooked. Detroit and Columbus…can’t really blame them with how hard their scedules have been.

Habs have taken advantage of their oppurtunities.

You're probably right, to an extent. I mean Hamonic had a goal and an assist tonight, I am not his biggest fan but maybe it just wasn't our night.

We have won too much recently to be this jaded. Green is a good coach, we shall overcome.

Yep and making those in-game adjustments might have gotten us a win tonight, but when players/lines are struggling either Green gives them even more TOI or he just ignores it. No way would any other coach leave Zetterlund to rot on the 4th with scrubs like he has nor would a good coach keep throwing Highmore and Gaudette out there when it's clear they're cooked. He might be even more stubborn than DJ was.

You don’t think the into goal was soft? Or the Greig goal lol. Swayman sucked ass. Which is why he let in 4 on whatever and was pulled.

We then barely tested korpisalo while bruins almost caught up to us in shots. It was a lifeless display and if swayman doesnt play that game that is a fight to the end

Looking at the Habs roster, I love how they still have plugs taking up valuable cap space. JAnderson and BGallagher are taking up $11 million in capspace and will continue to do so for the next 2 seasons. Hoping they are on the ice quite a bit so we can skate around them.

Yeah yeah they have some capspace coming off the books, but those two, especially Gallagher are absolute plugs.
I haven't had such a large portion of crow in a long time.

Gon be eating it for a while.

If the Greig goal was soft, then Ullmark was soft on every goal tonight except Dvorak's. And I know for sure you're not going to make that argument.
