GDT: GAME 67 | Senators @ Canadiens | Playing with the Big Boys Now Part 1 Edition | Tue Mar 18 2025, 7PM | TSN2, TSN5, RDS

His recent point streak begs to differ. He's still young and obviously will have inconsistency.
Yeah sorry I don’t care about the pp points where he’s the second assist on. He should be a force of nature every time he’s on the ice. That’s why he’s selected third overall that’s why he’s the highest paid on the team

0% chance we beat the Panthers in the first round. We have a decent shot against the Caps.

That said you play to win. But WC2 is the better spot.

I think Gaudette really took advantage of our team lack of goalscoring all season long. He had his 15 goals early in the season and did pretty much notbing on that 4th line for over 60 games . We need guys that can't acutally sakte check or hit in the 4th line. Highmore an ahl player can't blame him for his effort he just doesn't have what it take. A lot of our D man are playing their worst hockey

Yeah, having Gaudette and Highmore on the 4th line is probably the biggest weakness on our team right now. Having Hamonic taking a regular shift is also a big weakness.

It blows my mind that Crookshank isn't taking Highmore's place in our lineup. He's the superior player.

To be fair to Green, Pinto was in the box and we traded Norris. Who was he supposed to play on the PK? He used Giroux, Cozens, Greig… he was kind of out of options.
1. Amadio is arguably our best defensive forward.

2. Stützle PKed under DJ Smith and looked like a real threat doing so.

3. Zetterlund is saddled with 2 plugs on the 4th line playing 10mins/night. If Green won't elevate him, why not find him some minutes on the PK, given the fact that the current alternative is Highmore, who has the skills and hockey sense of an amoeba.

It's not an options issues. It's coaching.

I think the early goal is what killed us tonight. It's so important for road games to try and take the crowd out of it early, but that quick goal by Montreal really gave them a lot of energy that they carried through the whole game. I actually didn't mind their game tonight, just some untimely goals, if Ullmark squeezes that rebound then we probably come away with a point against a really fired up Montreal team.
Yeah like the Lane Hutson goal wasn't good to give up. Our defense didn't play that perfectly, but for the most part we made sure it was on a bad angle and their "screen" was too small to matter. (Like Logan Thompson in our final Caps game was actively coming out to fight off screens in those scenarios). Can't blame Ullmark on the third goal, wtf was Hamonic doing. Fourth, Ullmark absolutely should have controlled the rebound.

10 f***ing minutes for Zetterlund when the top line isn't going at all is criminal and once again shows Green is unable to make in-game adjustments. He only reacts after losses.
Green might be a disaster once we’re actually in the playoffs simply because he’s very stubborn in-game and doesn’t make adjustments, but at least we’ll be there I guess.

It's incredibly obvious his early goal scoring streak was a fluke. He's got 4 goals since the start of December and still his shooting percentage is 20%.

He has 6 points in his last 35 games and brings nothing besides scoring.

In fact, he's a net negative when he's not scoring. Too slow and weak defensively to be able to perform in a 4th line role, yet he hasn't been scratched once.

We'd be much better off playing a guy like Jenik or MacEwen in his role. At least they'll bring some size and snarl.

Even Perron with his smarts and board battle would be great on the PK, especially since he can just dump the puck willy nilly without worrying about icing, thus his speed doesn't even hinder him in that situation.

Both are faster as well. Even just bring Crookshank up. IDC how "bad defensively" he is, Crookshank has speed and skill.

Probably not a good omen during the biggest stretch of the season.

Have you guys seen Ullmarks playoff numbers? I think those numbers may leak into his late season crunch time numbers as well
I dont think so, Ullmark has been clutch. Its our dzone coverage that has been bad lately...plus too soft play from some players...
