Classic CBJ season.

Suck out lout for first half of season.
Use an excuse for why it happened.
Once you get far enough out, then play your best hockey and draft 5-8th.
Fans get excited because the team played so well in meaning less games.

REPEAT

I know what you're saying, but I think injuries are a legit excuse.
I think next season the Jackets will fire on all cylinders at the start. A healthy Jenner, Dubinsky, Murray, Calvert, Bobrovsky and maybe a good free agent signing or two will make a huge difference. And maybe a better, and more developed Wennberg, Dano, Rychel, Bjorkstrand, etc. That, and I think they've learned a few lessons about where slow starts get you.

Anything less than a winning record going into December next season will be completely inexcusable, and significant changes will be made if that is the case.

No. No it isn't. Was one earlier in the season, but not for what's happened after the new year. If we've learned about slow starts, there is absolutely no evidence to support that as we're always getting off to slow starts.

Good road game last night. But we're still giving up way too many scoring chances.

We got off to a fine start in the first stage of games this year (10 or so) and then the injured list, which was already an issue when the season began, grew

For 42 shots against, the Jackets honestly didn't surrender that many quality scoring chances.
Actually, early in the game, Savard blocked a shot that was headed into a wide open side of the net ( on the double-minor PK I think? ) it wasn't on the highlights though, shockingly.
The D can be better, but they're nowhere near as bad as early in the season. They've been doing a decent job of collapsing and blocking shots, imo.

As for the slow starts, if you re-read what I said, I said the team will take notice of the slow starts ( including the one this season ) and will focus on avoiding the same next season.

Dano continues to impress me every game. Has been a pleasure seeing him grow as an NHLer. Arty played with a spark last night, and we are a lot better of a team when he plays that way.

For all you concerned about tanking, you're not mentioning that Telecast seems poised to breakout. Not getting nearly enough mention around here IMO, although taking Gretzky's number seems egotistical.

you don't like the Olympics or WJC?

For the most part the Olympic games as a hole stink, yes there are some occasional epic games but that's the extreme exception, I watch them all and most are a complete bore fest of keep away, no hitting, just pond hockey. World Juniors is the same, some games are great, most are dull. It's a shame because there would be a lot more epic games on a smaller ice surface where you couldn't play keep away and hide the whole game.

Too many. Our defensive zone (and neutral zone, and offensive zone) play has been **** all season and there is a very good reason we are giving up 3.1 goals per game and are bottom 5 in the league.

We can try and give as many excuses as we want; but this team is playing less than it's sum.

Hopefully it can be addressed during the off season.

/slowly nods head in agreement...

Your first paragraph is spot on. I however think our sum may not actually be that good to begin with, and we are playing even worse.

That's actually happened more than a few times over the past 2 months or so. I haven't noticed it on any other FS networks.
I guess our tv crew should lay off the booze during live broadcasts.
Also, that was Atkinson's 14th goal, not 19th. He's not LW either, he's RW. Only thing they got right was the assists and time of the goal

Speaking of laying off the booze, that was Hartnell's goal and he is a LW. So everything was right outside of the name and #

As someone pointed out earlier. They can't get in the top 3 picks without winning the lottery. They're most likely to stay where they are right now (around 7th), with a possibility of getting to 4th or 5th I believe.

Wuttttttttt? But I thought Cam's goal was the one that made the game 3-1 0.o

It was, but Dano and Anisimov didn't assist on Cam's goal. Also, note the time stamp (Harty scored at 16:24 of the 1st). I think the graphic came up when it did because they kept changing the Anisimov assist around.

Currently sitting with 6th pick which could drop to 7 if someone below us wins lottery. We could overtake Devils I think (5 pts behind) or we could fall below Toronto. I see the possible range as #1 overall.
Realistically looks like its between 5th & 8th at this point.

Oh yeahhh, that makes sense. I keep forgetting it was Savard who assisted on the Cam goal.

What a cluster**** this turned into
