No. You lay the stick flat on the ice covering 5 hole and push out, forcing Byram to superman it and reach around to score.

That very much sounds like doing what he did.

Instead of missing it trying to get over before him, you go down low either way before he comes exposing the top part of the net, or you go down late and leave pretty much all of the net open.

There wasn't much he could have done there.
