I agree...I need some hope that this team can beat teams that are supposed to beat them. There are not that many but with recent loses to the quackers it feels like it has been a while.

schedule looks tough going forward too.

We have the toughest remaining schedule of all playoff teams IIRC

also last game vs Washington

58.9% CF%, Doughty and Kopitar together were unstoppable to 85% CF%...we were actually running them over most of the game, but Washington weathered the storm and took advantage of their opportunities, and Grubauer outplayed Quick, 39 saves on 40 SOG.

Funny enough that was the last time our PK looked good, they really stepped up and locked it down that night, which is why it's so maddening when we give up PP goals to teams like...yeah you know. We scored Shorthanded, naturally

I like our chances in a playoff series vs anyone. anyone. I like them less vs. the Ducks because I'm starting to become convinced that them and the Sharks are more concerned with beating us than doing anything else.

Hmmmm, we've got TJ Luxmore tonight who I considered adding to the ref part of the superstition o meter. Thoughts?

Would be nice to see a win here, but I'm realistically expecting a loss. Why? Because it's the regular season. We aren't a regular season team. I just want to make the playoffs with as many healthy guys as possible. Beyond that, could care less how we manage to do it

The score looked nice last game against Vancouver, but we didn't play our best. We're going to need our best tonight.

So what are the chances Williams factors into the game winning goal against the Kings again tonight?

I swear, if the Kings are having the upper hand for most of the game but the score is tied and then the Caps score a fluky goal in the final minutes of the third like last time, I'm gonna be really mad. I hate games like that. Kings just need to go out there in the third and shut them down.

They're a respectable 6-3-1 in their last 10, yet they've lost a lot of ground to the Ducks.

The ducks need to come back to earth - fast!

Kings 3-1 (en by King)

It is 100% true. Guy was struggling to make plays, constantly passing the puck to the other team. He'd throw terrible passes to the point when he'd get frustrated that he couldn't get free of his defender. He struggled breaking out of the defensive zone. He caused multiple playoff shorthanded goals. He was a defensive liability.

There's a reason Lombardi wasn't interested in signing a "Top 6" forward that can produce and is clutch for $3M.

People just don't want to admit how bad it was.

Edit: Most people are probably blocking it out, but didn't we sit through a long stretch of Lewis on the first line when Brown and Williams both played themselves off it?
Most players were struggling last year. Players aren't robots, they're people. They go through ups and downs. Just because a player, or a team, has a down year doesn't mean they're done.

Williams & Co, went through one of the most grueling stretches of play in pro sports history. They looked tired and flat the following year. This shouldn't have surprised anyone.

Williams has looked really good the times I've watched the Caps this year. The Caps play a very different game than the one Sutter imposes on the Kings (successful as it has been) and I put most of his success this year down to that.

How is this any different for any of the Kings players when things aren't going well?

He was also the Conn Smythe winner the last time the Kings played a playoff game, somehow that doesn't equate to 'caused multiple playoff shorthanded goals.'

Lifetime achievement award... like John Scott going to the allstar game. :)

There's also video evidence if you care to go back and dig it up.

People forgetting that he was a turnover machine. He handled the puck like a grenade.

I can't block it out... Don't get stripped by Toews... don't get stripped by Toews... ****!

Probably a good thing considering how much this team struggle with bottom feeders.

Brown? Stoll? Richards? It wasn't worth a 3M contract to see how done Williams was.

The Ducks or Sharks beating us in a seven game series would be their Stanley Cup. Those franchises are obsessed with supplanting us in California hockey.

Thought these were great quotes from him:

Trotz, on Drew Doughty and his contention for the Norris Trophy:
You forget how good Drew Doughty is. I think he’s got to get some Norris Trophy votes this year. I think he’s been the best defenseman this year in my opinion. Now that we’ve seen them more, scouted them a little bit more … just how good he is. And then obviously have a chance to work with him in Team Canada, so pretty excited about that.

Trotz, on if anything surprised him in last game vs. LA:

No, they have an identity. They play to their identity. They’re a big, heavy team. There’s not a lot of fluff to their game. They’re pretty straight forward. They play a hard, blue-collar game with some white-collar skill in high-end guys like Kopitar and Doughty.

You know that is all irrelevant. He's a just a coach not a HF board poster. :sarcasm:

Just continually reminds me of Babcock's "good teams don't trick you, good teams just beat you."

Boudreau continually trying to be cute in regular season games while Sutter is going "who ****ing cares"

Good news and bad news.

The good news is that via superstition there's no way we lose this game.

The bad news is that means we're certain to lose this game.

Hmmmm, we've got TJ Luxmore tonight who I considered adding to the ref part of the superstition o meter. Thoughts?

You really need to add that for us.
He has been brutal in games we're in.
Let's hope that they have had a nice long talk with him since the last games he did. I'm not one to complain about the refs but how many phantom calls were there?
And against a team like Washington that will just throw us off our game.

So with that adjustment were looking at what 60% chance of winning? :help:

Congratulations on the easy win tonight. Now, can you give me a 5% multiplier on your superstition-o-meter please?

Does it count when it's after the superstition-o-meter has been posted?
