I'd give him another offseason to see what he can do before giving up on hin. This is his biggest NHL role and he's still young enough to improve.

Next training camp will be big for him.
He's not nearly effective enough we have to move on or we'll be a perpetual tank.

I have a question... how come Bruins could stay competitive all this time without any bloody rebuild? I mean, granted, their GM wasn't Marc Bergevin, but still. I am jealous. I want a team that I want to to win and not hope for a loss. It's depressing.
Pasternak is a huge reason. They got an ace player and added him to a veteran team

Bergeron, Krejci, Marchand and Pastrnak. Three of those four can't go on for much longer, although Pasta is brilliant and will perhaps carry Bergeron for another season. Plus, Bergeron & Krejci are playing for relative peanuts.

So we just release him this summer? I think that's a mistake. I see no issue with giving him a 1 year and letting him battle it out at training camp.

they aren't that good . It's fake news by the medias. As i said previously, they can't win anything because their core players are mor than 28 years old

I know it's been said a lot....but I'm so glad that the famous Gallagher is the key to the Danault-Tatar line is done and over with. Danault still doing his thing, Tatar again on top of the league in +/-.... If anything, he was the anchor of that already very good 2-way line.
It would drive me crazy when people would think Gallagher was driving that line. For me he was the weak link of that trio.

A past his prime Kovalchuk replaced Gallagher in 2020 when he got injured and that line never missed a beat.

They went through a period where they were terrible after trading Joe Thornton. Wayne Primeau was their #1 C, and Montreal beat them 12-13 consecutive games.

Thornton was also a #1 OA pick for them.

They've had their down periods, but had excellent drafts between 2003-2006, then signed Chara as UFA and made some good trades (Horton, Boychuck, etc).

If you rebuild, they will come.

I don't think it's at all safe to assume he turned down a 1st or a 2nd.

Everything that has come out since then has shown teams were scared off by his injuries. It was a shitty situation, with pretty much the worst possible timing. Then on top of that you had guys like Klingberg going for a 4th.
And Luke Schenn got a 3rd.
