Whatever happens in this game, I'll still watch it. I'd be happy with a win, content with a loss I suppose given our positioning, but I just can't seem to force myself to actively root for the Jackets to lose. I just can't. If I were, I'd much rather be doing something productive from 7-9:30pm EST time, check the score after the game, and be like "yay!" if it says they lost.

Man this board feels weird compared to last year, it's starting to feel like the Coyotes or Sabres board, and I kinda feel left out tbh. I just can't for the life of me bring myself to be saddened by a win.

Anyone in the same boat as I am regarding this tanking situation?

You're not alone. I've tried to root for this team to lose, but no matter how beneficial it'll be for the Jackets, I just can't make myself watch them lose and feel happy about it. It's gotten to the point where I can laugh about it, but I don't actively root for them to lose, my competitive side won't allow it haha

I moved from the depression stage to the acceptance stage around the all-star break and at this point, I just want to see hard-played games. I think for the most part we've seen that.

I think you're mistaking indifference and acceptance over what happened this season with "actively hoping they lose." I can't speak for other platforms but I can only think of one poster on here who's cheering against the team.

i think acceptance is where I am...its hard to pay hard earned money to go to games to actively want them to lose...

Thanks for the feedback, guys. To be clear though, I have nothing against anyone who's pro-tank. I know they're just thinking of what's best for the team long-term. I'm just not patient enough to wait for next season lol

I want them to lose so I can suck down a tub of ice cream and listen to 'The Idiot' by Iggy Pop and cry myself to sleep.

A loss gives me the ability to hate myself.

Can you guys bring the cannon with you? If for no other reason than to annoy the hell out of our obnoxious color analyst, Tripp Tracy?

Tonight's match-up between your Columbus Bluejackets and the Carolina Hurricanes is the premier TANK game of the night. Which team will suck enough to bring home the all important -2 pts in the standings. Which team will be wearing the coveted L for loooooser on their foreheads after this epic NHL clash?

Catch all the exciting action (not) on FOX sports Ohio.

Or something like that.

Speaking of tanking, for your reading pleasure:

Umby is a healthy scratch tonight for Philly. I feel bad for him but I"m sure as hell glad we have Hartsy instead of him!

It's amazing that he hasn't been scratched more often. 6 assists in 67 games in almost 14 minutes per game including 1:19 of PP time should occur by accident.

I can't bring myself to root for losses. We're too far out of the bottom 2 to have a shot at Eichel and the odds of being the lottery winner don't increase enough with additional losing for me to jump on the tank train.

I also can't get overly excited about the difference of picking 4th rather than 6th.

A loss + a TOR point tomorrow brings the odds of landing McDavid up from 7.5% to 9.5%. It is not insignificant, these two tank offs today and tomorrow.

2% increased chance (or even 25% if one just looks at 7.5% to 9.5%) doesn't excite me.

I will, however, go out of my mind if we do win the lottery and get McDavid. After watching him play two games in Erie last month, the difference between him and some other highly rated players (Strome, Marner) is humongous.

Love the term "tank offs"!

Don't know if I'm the one poster rooting for losses but I have to admit I'm not very upset if they lose. The season is lost, I don't buy the line that losing a few at this point will re-establish a losing culture and having the best chance to win the lottery is huge imo, not to mention having a better chance to get the guy we value most whoever that is if we should lose the lottery.

My favorite teams right now are Toronto and Carolina and would love to see Arizona play out of their minds down the stretch as well.

I know he's a dynamo, but that move wasn't anything special, the defenseman did what our guys do, look at the puck not the guys chest and got burned

It was the first gif that popped up in a "Connor McDavid gif" google search. Haven't searched too deep into the archives

I take it Boll is playing tonight? Thought he might have been injured in practice, but apparently not. He is an integral component of our ability to tank.
