Past two seasons they just utterly collapsed, though. There was a legit reason to call them on it then. They aren't playing like crap here. They aren't shying away from physical play, they are showing up. It sucks to lose, but the Wings aren't being ran out the building the way they were in the past.

Besides those few scrambles a lot of shots had no traffic in front of the net. It was like watching a Dave Lewis coached team just shoot pucks from the outside.

The results are the same but this isn't how they were losing last March. I remember those games they had nothing. We deserved at least 6 points out of 12 we didn't get.

But as Clint Eastwood once said, Deserves got nothing to do with it, and hockey is goofy.

yeah, it just sucks for us right now. No one is happy to lose, but if we have to lose I want to see us fighting like this. It's what we need to see these guys do, win or lose.

They aren't playing like crap but they're still not doing it right. Idk something is still off with this team. They made it pretty easy for Ullmark to see most of those shots tonight.

I watch every game and have for over a decade, and want nothing but the best for the team, but moral victories aren't cutting it right now.

At this point may as well lose them all and improve the draft position.

Ottawa is our direct competitor. So is CBJ. for the third year in a row they just showed us who’s boss. CBJ has a young Fantilli who will become a PPG physical C, plus Mateychuk growing and Lindstrom 4th OV. If Cozens finds his game again in Ottawa, that’s a 1/2C with physicality they just added. Danielson and ASP don’t put us over the edge.

Yzerman has to add and find value outside the draft. It’s not optional. It’s mandatory. Every other team who gets better does it. If he can’t do that, this rebuild will completely fail, regardless of how good the prospects are. End of story.

Nygaard pellika cossa etc.. the kids are literally coming lol

Fantilli was a top 3 pick which unfortunately we never had . Also fortunate we didn't in the seider raymond years

Yzermans biggest flaws have been ufa signings. Alot of fans here cheered and called me stupid though for shitting on copp,compher,tarasenko signings. We were all in agreement holl made zero sense

He needs new advisors to help him with free agency cause it's been killing us. His trades have been awful for the most part . Walman was a disaster ... debrincat was his best move but the player forced his way here

Not many wins ... his drafting had been his saving grace. He needs to dump guys and make better moves this summer without a question

It doesn’t matter if it’s unfortunate. It’s reality. My point is that every other rebuilding team also has fantastic prospects. Many have prospects better than ours too (MTL with Demidov, for example). It’s not enough and will not be enough. If that’s what you expect to fix the team, you’re in for a major disappointment.

I think it's that they're not clearly better than their competition. Us and Ottawa and Columbus are pretty equal teams. I'm not sure what they're supposed to do, though. They are playing really hard, they are arguably outplaying their opponents...sometimes you don't get the breaks and the other team does. I know that doesn't necessarily sit well thinking that we always make everything happen entirely on our own, but I don't think that's true. Sometimes you just don't get the breaks. This team, playing like this, it's a damn good sign, though. I'd be way more concerned if they just rolled over and died.

moral victories aren't the best victories, and we might lose every game the rest of the season. But you can't have them quitting out there. If this team just rolls over and dies, that's when you have to look at clearing out the room.
 
Wait, I think I just realized why Yzerman brings in so many character guys, it's for the emotional support to cope with the annual collapse.

Mtl got demidov cause he fell to them but they were a top 5 team that year. Fantilli 3. Fans complain we shouldn't root for the tank but you want superstars that's the only way and shouldn't complain afterwards (not saying you,just fans in general)

Year we got danielson I wanted us to lose towards the end to get a chance at michkov,Leonard was also available. I hope I'm wrong about danielson being a 3c

Fans can pretend we still have a shot at the playoffs but look at tankathon and look at all those teams were bunched in with. I'd much rather get 7th pick at this point and get a Jackson Smith to pair with seider, or edlund,frondell,obrien or god willing we move up to 1 or 2 than pick 13 again

Hopefully a lombardi,buchelnikov becomes our point,kucherov in the sense they exceeded our expectations and became a top line star for us. God knows we're due

That's the best news cause more than half this roster will be gone in a couple years. Bunch of fill in scrubs

As long as Johansson,soderblom kasper keep getting better I'm happy

My point is jsut that you can’t jsut rely on prospects. Every other team is aggressive in adding through trades and FA and has much better pro scouting so they don’t sign dog shit like Holl and Gustafsson.
 
We only ever seem to heavily outshoot our opponents in games we can't score/are down early. The problem is the moment they would have scored 2/3 goals on all those chances in the 2nd, they would have let their foot off the gas allowing for a potential Sens comeback,

They literally never just dominate early, score a bunch of goals and cruise to an easy W. Every win is some kind of battle, whether its a comeback victory or trying to hold onto a lead.
