If this morning skate lineup actually produces results, it's sexy:

Gaborik – Kopitar – Williams
Brown – Richards – Carter
King – Stoll – Toffoli
Clifford – Pearson – Lewis – Nolan

I actually really like these lines. If Gaborik and Kopi can generate some chemistry ... watch out.

I think it's a mistake taking Brown off that third line. They were playing well together.

Of course these thins change all the time so we'll see what happens.

Yeah but I understand why he did it. He wants a true sniper on each of our top 3 lines. You have to split up Gaborik/Carter/Toffoli.

Kopitar and Williams running the cycle will open up space for Gaborik to sneak into scoring position, just like Brown/Richards will do for Carter, and Stoll/King will do for Toffoli.

Each line has a couple of big physical players - which in theory should make it easier for our snipers to find the soft spots on the ice. A very balanced top 9 - if they find chemistry it's going to be deadly.

You know who else can be put on Kopi's LW? Quick. Dress him up and send him out there. The probability of success? LOW. History shows Gaborik can't play LW.

Ok, I'm sure it's not that bad. Let's just see what happens tonight. If it doesn't work, I'm sure Sutter will switch it back, but if he can figure it out then it makes the lines a whole lot more balanced.

Although with how good the 3rd line has been, I would've just moved Toffoli down to the 2nd line and kept everything else the same.

Also, three cheers and welcome back to Puck U!

Also also, I picture Holden curled up in a warm chair and shaking uncontrollably when the Kings-Jets play :P

Mitchell on Gaborik's skill set: "Explosive skater and has a quick release. A little bit of a cookie monster. Likes to score his goals."

Wat?

I'd rather keep Brown on 3rd line RW and put Toffoli on Richards LW if we are going to experiment with Gaborik on LW

Also, I'm pretty upset that I'm going to miss Gabby's first game because of work

Can't wait to see the starting lineup. As long as Lewis is on the 4th line, I'll be content.

Edit: I see that the morning lineup is already out. I agree with those who say Brownie should remain on the 3rd line with Stoll. I like the fact that Sutter's giving TT RW minutes, but he can get that on the 1RW if you slide JW down to 3RW and Brownie to 3LW.

But in any case, Lewis is on the 4th so, I'm good.

The thing I love about the Gaborik acquisition besides the speed is that we finally have multiple players that can hit the net :P Gaborik is a guy that can roof the puck at will and find those holes that goalies don't even know they have, even in traffic and with defenders all over them. Now we have two players who have 40 goal potential when the puck is placed on their stick. It's about time. Kopitar to Gaborik and Richards to Carter. I can watch those four all day long.

Anyone else surprised the Jets didn't do anything at the deadline? Maybe because Scheifele went down, but this is a city that is starving for playoff action

My goodness what a release! Between Gabs and Carter who has a better shot?
