LOL, the criticism of Brown is a hyperbole? Gee, I guess I was imagining things when Darryl Sutter was bumping Brown down the lineup and reducing his minutes and special teams ice time.

His shooting percentage is the lowest it's been in his career, so yeah, clearly there is nothing wrong with Brown's performance.

No, saying things like "Brown is no longer an NHL player" is hyperbole. If he was making $1M/yr instead of $6M, no one would have an issue with his play.

Brown has been terrible, but at least 20 of his shots are from the blue line just to get a face off. I don't know why his play has dropped off so badly.

brown will be fine with such a depth. he can play the 1st line in case of emergency, many cannot, or he can cement a very solid bottom 6. just stop comparing young brown vs brown today, age took a toll, and to a degree he adapted well.

And the Kings have a less expensive version of Brown in Trevor Lewis. Sadly, Brown makes more than triple the amount that Lewis does.

His actual salary for this year is $7.25M. A player with 8 goals and 23 points is one of the highest paid wingers in the NHL.

Typing that made me nauseous.

It's absolutely about the $$$. He's been horrendous. Guy can't even skate. There is no way you can defend his play.

I know Deaner is loyal to a fault, but I really think Brown is one summer away from being Richards'd. he is an absolute dead weight and going forward his cap hit is going to be an even bigger hindrance to signing crucial players. Toffoli being the most obvious one

that would make Jon Hoven right for the first time in his life. could it be happening???
stay tuned to my twitter feed for all the answers, 30 minutes from now!

Brown got too huge in the off season... the added upper body weight is throwing his balance off.

I think Brown is gone this summer.

Team needs a top line winger (Lucic or other).
Also needs a 2nd pair RHD, unless that's being filled with Schenn/Ebert.

There are options to fix both positions this Summer, but that requires cap space. When looking to free up cap space Brown is the number one option.

The whole, "Must Win" I got a flash back to going down the stretch last year... all the must win games. Lossing the match up to the Flames, losing a game to the Oilers :shakehead... kinda reminded me of blowing the games against the Ducks... hard to finish above a team when you blow the series with them.

EDIT: I'd still complain about Brown at 1M because Sutter would play him all over the top 9.

I hope Dean has the balls to buy out Brown this summer. His cap and play is killing us, and has been for a couple of years now. Can't skate, score, draw penalties or even receive a pass. It's brutal to watch.

Going to have to trade him at 1.8 or less retained...

I got it... Brown can retire and the Kings can hire him at $6 a year to be a fitness trainer. He loves working out.

Going to read the Canuks board.. see if they're still melting down... got to do something to cheer up.

At first I was like "Wow, two pages of GDT before I even got home, how cool!" Then I read it. ;)

Relative to bottom sixers around the league, Brown is near the top. Unfortunately he's paid like a top-sixer and we cannot reconcile that difference in salary beyond this year. I'm excited to see what DL brings, but I'm going to try to enjoy our two-time cup winning captain while I can, he was as close to the second coming of Adam Deadmarsh as any of us could ever have wanted AND he lead the way to our franchises first cup. It will be a sad day when he's gone regardless.

Comes out to a measly 315,000$ per point. Your telling me that's not NHL level production? What a bunch of hyperbole :sarcasm:

Brown has got to go. His money will be used towards Lucic and Toffoli and we can bring in 2 impct players in his place. Its sad just how bad he has gotten.

Sadly i think Kempe is going to get traded for someone to take Brown off our hands.

It will be a pick, to a team looking for leadership and worth ethic.

People are really optimistic about moving Brown. lol Any trade with Brown will involve retaining salary and/or taking salary back.
