Why is it when our guy gets hit by a high hit that we end up killing the penalty?

This was my theory on why we have a logjam on D for the playoffs: Dubas expects someone will stand up for the team and end up suspended. It has happened year after year. So those extra d men can just slot in when the league sees fit to suspend anyone who dares to stand up to the one-sided officiating.
