Honestly I thought they were being too passive at some points despite the shot difference. This isn’t the Harlem globe trotters. I don’t care if Patrick Kane is on this team and all the sudden everyone thinks they are an all star.

Unless you have a lethal shot, you aren’t likely to beat any goalie in the league with a clean shot.

Get a body in front of the net. Cause some havoc. Take some shots with the purpose of deflections and get some greasy goals. This team unfortunately isn’t built for playoff hockey.

Chiarot and Seider are throwing their bodies around and bruising the opposition, Ed and AlJo are rookies holding their own weight out there. Gus and Holl shouldn’t be dressed. They are not on a playoff caliber roster. They are filler players who get swapped in due to injuries or Gus is inserted into the line up to play 8-9 minutes a game and 4-5 on the PP.

Season isn’t over yet, but I feel like it’s going to be a bumpy ride to the end of the season which is a complete 180 from what this team was showing 5 games ago.

This 4 game skid will probably be the inevitable difference maker at the end of the season, needed to get some points out of that Columbus series, handed them two wins instead. This was a winnable game and the offense didn't produce. My hopes for playoffs after the last 4 have about fizzled out. Address the bottom defensive pairing, either at the deadline or offseason. Holl and Gus ain't cutting it.

what expendable players would have value to a contender though?

Kane? Might we get a 2nd rounder for him, from a team that needs to improve their second PP and can afford a glider on their third line?

Would we want to part with Chiarot or Veleno for a 3rd?

No one's giving us anything for Holl, Gustafsson, Tarasenko, Motte. All we'd get is a 2nd for Berggren or Rasmussen and each is worth a little more than that.
 
Let me make sure I got it all lined up here.

Lost 4 straight, including massively outshooting a Utah org that we can't beat for some reason.

We waive Fischer to call up Mazur, Fischer get claimed by one of our direct competitors, and then Mazur goes down immediately for the year.

Walman gets dealt for a first round pick just months after we paid a team a second to take him.

What a terrible day for Steve Yzerman.

I don’t care whether we make the playoffs or not, one of gus or holl has to go this season. Whether that be trade or waived or sitting in the press box for the rest of it. That pairing cannot continue. Bring a rookie up, do SOMETHING. They’ve been an issue all year and you sat and didn’t do anything about it. The pro scouting on this team needs a complete makeover, they are likely the difference between the playoffs and not.

Veleno can go, I dont mind Chiarot as much as most. He has his issues, but is the still needed. Gus and Holl need to go before Chiarot is a concern, while Veleno adds nothing to the forward group that isnt available in the form of even a Grand Rapids vet at this point.
 
This team is everything we thought they were at the start of the season. Suspect goaltending, no depth on defense, and an offense almost entirely on one line.

I think they have overachieved

Raymond has played great. So have Larkin and Debrincat. Edvinsson looks like a future all star. Many of the young guys are outplaying the vets.

It isn't showing in the standings but this team is in good shape going forward. It's just taking too darn long.

Yzerman needs to get some top end talent in the door to take the next step. With a rising cap next offseason he needs to go all in. At least then the wings won't lose assets.
 
Man I guess us Red Wings fans are finally paying the price for all those good championship years we got to enjoy.

This is pain. I thought washed Kevin Hatcher was bad back in the day. I did not know the Likes of Justin Holl was going to be unleashed on this team.
