Quack quack quack
This.Who do we have on an expiring contract and who is not injured — just Drouin?
Since there’s no chance he returns next year, I hope they they limit his minutes and offer them to someone who will be counted upon to be here.
He's going to play center until Dach (or Monahan) is back. Then probably moved to the bottom 6 wing. It's not like Pezz/Pitlick/Belzile have more future with the team than he does anyhow.Who do we have on an expiring contract and who is not injured — just Drouin?

How so? They may not be game-breakers but Pezz/Pitlick/Belzile will all likely be back next year and thus deserve minutes. He's going to play center until Dach (or Monahan) is back. They did that from the second period on. Must've been something they identified during the intermission.
It's smart, gives width to the rush.It was to break the 1-3-1.
Pezz and Belzile are 4th liners and will play with Teirney until the end of the season. They do a good job.How so? They may not be game-breakers but Pezz/Pitlick/Belzile will all likely be back next year and thus deserve minutes.
Anyone know how long until Farrell can sign and I'm interested in watching again?
Drouin is not a centerman, never was, never will be. He was only being given minutes there to attempt to facilitate a trade.Pezz and Belzile are 4th liners and will play with Teirney until the end of the season. They do a good job.
Drouin will play with Dvorak and Hoffman mostly likely or take Pitlick spot with Dach depending how awful one is playing that day. Nobody needs to sit until Farrell is signed or Gallagher managed to get out of that boot or Armia heals of whatever he has.
Every time Pitlick was put at center this season, he was worst then Drouin has been there, that's why he never stick at the position. Great tank move, so not something MSL will do.Drouin is not a centerman, never was, never will be. He was only being given minutes there to attempt to facilitate a trade.
Pitlick can play center and was used there already.
There is no reason to help Drouin, there is no return to be had for him and he’s not returning next year — hence, his minutes and role can be downsized in favor of others who will likely be back next season.
damn statham is a habs fanAnyone go to the games in person?
I don't know how Pitlick could have possibly been worse than a player who could never hack it at the position. At best, call it even but Drouin is definitely not a centreman.Every time Pitlick was put at center this season, he was worst then Drouin has been there, that's why he never stick at the position. Teirney will be the first player out, then it will depend who's playing badly.
That's what I'm expecting because he was the odd man out last game when they went 11F/7D.I don't know how Pitlick could have possibly been worse than a player who could never hack it at the position. At best, call it even but Drouin is definitely not a centreman.
Why is Tierney out necessarily? Marty appears to like him, I wouldn't be too sure about that. At least there's an outside chance that Tierney is given a look for next year.
I can't believe I'm getting pushback on Drouin -- this is what you get in this place, 6 years of failure and even when the Habs have nothing to gain from him getting minutes, he's still supposed to get some kind of special treatment.
When will it ever be enough?
Laval could use the help. They won't make the playoffs with the current group. That's what I'm expecting because he was the odd man out last game when they went 11F/7D.
And I'm not pushing for Drouin, I'm writing what I'm expecting based on what MSL has done so far. I also expect Ylonen/RHP to be send back down to the AHL to help for the playoffs once players start to return from IR since they were paper send down today.
So you don't think anything MSL has done so far, was done with an eye on the trading deadline? He and Hughes meet about such things. That's what I'm expecting because he was the odd man out last game when they went 11F/7D.

With Barron out there isn't a 7D option for now.So you don't think anything MSL has done so far, was done with an eye on the trading deadline? He and Hughes meet about such things.
I don't know if MSL will continue with 7D. That may have been to ease in Edmundson, also potentially to garner trade deadline interest so he could be seen taking shifts.
In the last week, sure, but Drouin has been at center on and off for weeks now and I don't think it was to showcase him at first. So you don't think anything MSL has done so far, was done with an eye on the trading deadline? He and Hughes meet about such things.

We'll agree to disagree on why Drouin was gifted that plum assignment. I think it has to do with his bum wrists and as a centreman he wouldn't have to rely on his shot as much but mainly distribute. And of course, on account of the trading deadline. In the last week, sure, but Drouin has been at center on and off for weeks now and I don't think it was to showcase him at first.
Oh the 7D was to ease in Edmundson, but since Teirney was out I see him at the bottom of the "lineup depth" right now. And there is no place to resign him, Habs are going to be hurting for contract slots very soon. I'm actually working on a post about that for the Trade thread.
