Helps having 6 NHL quality Dmen. And that isn’t a knock on Tucker, but man, all 6 of our current Dmen can skate. Make it’s hard on the opposition. What's great with this 4 games winning streak is the minutes our dman are playing. No one is playing the 25+ mins a night. Most mins was 21:44 for Parayko.
Parayko 21:44, 17:50, 19:13, 19:46
Fowler 20:05, 18:05, 19:10, 19:06
Faulk 21:14, 21:25, 21:13, 21:13
Broberg 19:55, 20:47, 21:24, 20:04
Leddy 18:42, 19:48, 18:05, 17:58
Suter 18:35, 20:10, 19:06, 18:29
Cutting 2-4 minutes a night off our top pair will help with wear and tear of the last 20 games of the season.
Absolutely THIS. I agree that this is the difference in his goal scoring. With Fowler as a solid, responsible, fast-skating defenceman, paired with him, he can feel free to go deeper towards the opponent's net, and take a lot more high-danger shots. Also, with Neighbours, Toropchenko, Buchnevich and several other Blues' forwards constantly around the net, as they've been since Monty took over, he'll have more good screens, and more opponent defenders pulled away from the farther out areas, so Parayko can "cheat in" more often, and deeper in.Weegar is the somewhat worry, where last season he had 20 goals and this season he's back to pacing under 10.
I want to find a site that tracks the average shot distance because my expectation is that Parayko is shooting a lot closer to the net, and that's why I think it could be a change in his game and it can be a new norm. Last season he had 11 shots in high-danger areas, and this season he already has 12. Last season he had 2 goals in that area, this season he has 5. Two seasons ago, he had 8 shots in high danger area.
If he can stay active in the offensive zone with his size and skating ability, he should continue to score more goals that he has in the past. That's what it would look like with him taking his game to the next level. He's not going to do it by creating and devloping as a passer, taking what he does well and using it offensively. If he continues to increase the amount of shots in and around the net, he'll continue to score more.
idk, we're only 1 point out of 2WC. (come on Seattle....)Nothing will stop us on our way to pick 16.
wohooo
Nope, still hate that contract and hope they send him packing. The "Buch's new contract sucks, we should give him away" crowd has been silent lately.
Suter's going to need more rest as they move towards The Playoffs. Thank goodness Faulk is healthy again, and playing well enough to play more minutes, and Leddy is back. I guess the fans who wanted Army ton trade Fowler off for a draft choice or prospect will reconsider. I wouldn't even try to trade Suter off at this point. Just play it out. What's great with this 4 games winning streak is the minutes our dman are playing. No one is playing the 25+ mins a night. Most mins was 21:44 for Parayko.
