Trying to show Wiz is bad with stats is a fools errand. You're talking about the guy who leads the team in assists.
More than that. I've watched every game he's played for us. Don't tell me, you were one of those pleading for Vinnie to be brought back because he was our leading scorer last season.

Regarding the no call..

It was a good call IMO simply because Dubi tried to step sideways when the Fla player dived. The FLA player dived, then Dubi sidestepped with his left leg into the player which made him lose his balance. FlA player then tipped the puck away before tripping Dubi completely by clipping his right leg. Had Dubi simply protected the puck and hadn't done any motion towards the FLA player it would of been a legit trip and a penalty shot for sure. Pretty sure thats what the ref was telling Dubi after the EN goal.

Good game by the jackets overall but we gave FLA too many scoring chances in the crease while not capitalizing at even strenght. PP was awesome. Good win, onto the next!

I feel a little better now. It was tough for me to be optimistic earlier.

I have the flu!

Glad my son got to go in my place and see a win. Now let's roll the Leafs!

Like how the team came out in the third, solid possession game to hold the lead and generated enough chances to keep the Panthers on their heels.

But man, when Wiz is off his game it sticks out like a sore thumb. We would've witnessed a rout of his head was in the right place.

I think this game and the one against New Jersey showed that we can NOT count on Bobrovsky and the Murray-Wisniewski pairing to do the majority of the heavy lifting down the stretch if we want to be successful. Not saying they're terrible, but we should not be thrusting them into these situations.

Need to acquire a quality backup goalie and, if Tyutin isn't going to come back soon, someone we can put on a top pairing with Johnson.

Bah. Totally missed this game. Who schedules a Saturday game at 2 PM?

Lame.

Glad we won though.

Good news we won!

Now the rest of the story... Wiznewski had too many turnovers and Murray used bad judgement which resulted in a goal. Team is just not clicking on all cylinders.

We miss Tyutin; and just don't think Gaborik fits on this team. Big week ahead, they must get better

Agree about Wiz, Murray, and Tyuts, but I'm still not sure about Gabby - maybe yes, maybe no.

I have no idea how anyone can make a judgment on Gaborik. He hasn't played competitive hockey for four months, scored a goal in his 1st game back and people are already writing him off :dunno: I'd like to know what's the reasoning for such conclusions. I thought he did a pretty nice job tonight considering his conditioning.
Also Joey looked way better than in NJ. Most of the time you don't even need to see the jersey number to realize who's making a play.

Guess I am basing my opinion on comparison to other players on the team. He is different; that is a good and bad thing. The good- he brings a different dimension we don't have as evidenced by the puck he knocked out of the air and scored on Thursday against NJ. The bad he isn't going into the corners and bumping and grinding to dig out pucks. Might be ok if he is on a line with others who can do that and feed him the pucks. Spent quite a few minutes today just focusing on him; with and without the puck, watching his position; offense and defense. basically saw both sides of it play out. I guess I'm hard on him because I think what we really need is a James Neal, Steve Ott type of player. Big, gritty and able to score. That's probably why I'm down on Gabby whether it's fair or unfair.
One other thought; while we're not an offensive juggernaut :) we are scoring a fair amount of goals. 3rd in NHL in goals scored in 1st period (57). After the last two games thinking a good shutdown defensemen might be a better place to focus rather than criticizing Gabby

Gabby is not James Neal or Steve Ott type of player and the management was aware of it when they traded for him. The Jackets have a lot of big and gritty forwards, Gabby's skillset is actually something this team is missing in the line-up. Foligno and Gabby complement each other pretty well, we'll see. Not sure I'm liking Arty as their center, Dubi seems a better fit for them.

As much as I loved the goal I loved Arty's enthusiasm after more. If he applies himself like we all hope he can, the sky's the limit for him.

It is sort of funny, isn't it? Horton, on the other hand, enjoyed an awful lot of leeway well into his first 18 games prior to the break. "wait until he gets his legs" and so forth...

Both have played 20 games, Horton with 12 pts (4/8) and Gaborik with 13 (6/7). Gaborik isn't as physical, but he also doesn't take as many really, really dumb penalties.

Very good point. Haven't really noticed Horton. That lazy Euro.

Oh wait. :sarcasm:

Nope.

I've also probably been the one who most frequently called for Wiz's benching at 5-on-5 when we're protecting a lead. But getting rid of him would be stupid. Consider that this was a bad game for Wiz, in that he made a few glaring mistakes, including a play where he cost us a goal, yet he also blasted one in at the other end, so he comes out even. This frequently happens with him where he looks awful and comes out even or ahead. And then for the vast middle of the season his defence wasn't awful.

It's not an empty statistic that Wiz leads the team in assists, he's a tremendous catalyst. I do agree with you that he's slow and not conservative enough, but his vision is actually fantastic.

Really didn't like the majority of our game today from a defensive standpoint. I just don't think this team will come out looking too pretty after this week unless a move is made back there. Good news for us today was we were playing Florida and those guys could actually afford to be that bad. I mean, Wisniewski couldn't have had a worse shift if he tried on heir first goal. Just nightmareish. Had a good time, nice to have some hockey to watch again, but definitely need to shore up the defense.

In other news, that's the Anisimov we know and love. Wish he'd show that kind of skill more often.

I think Gaborik has actually looked pretty decent in his first two games back...he's had some good scoring chances. But I do think he isn't very good defensively (which we all knew), and that is probably why people don't think he fits in here.

In regards to Horton, he seems to be completely invisible for long periods of times, or when he's noticeable, a ferocious forechecker. I really like his line of him, Joey and Jenner, but they need to be more consistent with their play.

Horton is a good player, but the biggest adjustment he needs to make in his game is to stop taking such lazy penalties. Another terrible reach penalty yesterday.

Count me in the pro Gaborik camp. He brings a real offensive threat to any line he's put on.

Rough night for Murray, just made the wrong choice on a few plays and it cost him. Not a big deal imo, its rare to see him actually look like a rookie.
