Well if he had a legit reason he wou
If he had a legit reason he would not of bedn benched. Sounds to me there isn’t one
I had a legit reason to be late, still got chewed out by the boss.

There's obviously a lot of legit reasons, but when you're being paid millions, staying in the same hotel on the road as everyone else, the list of viable excuses shrinks quite a bit.

No workplace is punishing you for a legitimate excuse
I did. Got chewed out by the boss for 30 mins.

After that everyone at work asked me "What happened? You are never late." I told them and they all said the same thing, "Yeah, that sucks."

Always blows my mind when something like this happens. Is the whole operation not staying in the same hotel?

Addition by subtraction I guess

There are a ton of questions we all have:
Was he by himself in the room or bunking with another player?
Was he held up in traffic, was there something unfortunate that caused this?
Is this solely on him as it was his fault completely?

We don't know and probably never will.
Just placing blame or questioning someones character when we don't even have more than 1 fact seems, unwise to me.

So that's now 2 players missing meetings this year.
Before this year, was the last player to miss (and be scratched) Seguin in Winnipeg? I remember that one as I made the trip to that game.

Oh well in that case.
Bad Bad Jake.

In fairness Forbort like when he plays, He misses coverage all the time so why is a meeting any different.

No attention to detail just like on the ice

Forbort knows he is getting dealt and doesn't care? No excuse for a veteran to miss a meeting on the road. Not sure how many coaches would tolerate two players missing meetings in the same year, total lack of respect.

Sure, but they are on the road. If there was something unfortunate to this I’m sure the team would be more understanding.

I didn’t attack his character, I don’t think he’s a bad person.

He’s an NHL veteran, this stuff can’t happen. He should know better. This is especially true when the play on the ice is less than great.

Yes, it's unwise.

However, none of these questions were asked on here when Jake missed a meeting. Then we had that rumor he was out partying and was drunk which was untrue. Didn't stop people saying it was fact.

Both f***ed up. It shouldn't of happened. Especially on Forbort who is a veteran.

My thoughts exacrly.

I’m surprised one of the players didn’t text a staff member who didn’t need to be at the meeting and ask him to see what’s up?

If I miss a phone meeting, can I ask my boss to bench me for meetings the rest of the week?
You can….but he might turn around and put you on the power play! LOL!!!!

how many of us are actually going to stay up for what will inevitably be a late OT game?
Me

I will watch it all and then wonder at 1:30 in the morning why I stayed up to watch a shootout

IIRC when Seguin had his alarm clock moment, didn't his roommate ditch him so that he'd learn a lesson?

Forbort being a respected veteran and not the party guy Seguin was is weirder, . Sometimes shit happens, but excuses don't matter in the end, punctuality does.

Can’t veterans room on their own in the NHL? Thought I had heard that before. He could have just overslept or told someone not to wait for him the day before he would meet them at the meeting. Loads of reasons. I’m more worried about the quality of play and a sold regulation road win than the reasons he missed it.

I’m sure it’s probably a simple overslept. I doubt it’s a bad attitude related type of thing. Monty says it’s simple. You miss. You sit. He called it a standard. So if Pasta or Mc overslept, would the standard be applied?

The point being made is Jake wasn’t afforded this charity. Either time.

How many scratches due to missed meetings under the Bergeron captaincy? Just Jake? And Chara for a decade? Just Seguin? Did Kessel ever miss?

Bold is an assumption. I assumed I would not get chewed out for 30 minutes for something I could not control. But I did.

Italics: Lots more posts here doing that than I expected there to be.

Underlined: So you know what happened then to be able to say it was completely his fault and not circumstantial.

I don't want to get bogged down in the reeds here. My point is that we know 1 fact out of all of this and people are making lots of grand assumptions and judgments in this thread.
