Zibanejad played better tonight than Spezza has in the first four games. This kid deserves a shot along with Lehner. Make some room on the roster and let these kids play.

Zibanejad looked better than his counterpart in the NHL! Play Zibanejad!
Lehner's counterpart in the NHL leads the league in SV% and GAA! Start Lehner!

Do you see the flawed argument here?

No. Just no.

Why in the world do we have to go overboard after a good performance? He played well but he wasn't out of this world. He stood out even more because the rest of the team was garbage.

It's the nature of this place to over-value prospects to a comical extent compared to proven players. See the 'trade Andy and let Lehner have the reigns' movement.

Nothing wrong with getting excited but I'm glad the people actually in charge of teams know better.

Man, Spezza is so underrated that even some of our fans underrate him.

It's okay. Not everyone can have opinions that are right. :D

Weircioch is our Yandle. Obviously not as good, but in the same sort of role.

Yandle plays the left side... Phillips was playing the right tonight because of too many left D.

Yandle can't play with Karlsson... can't play with Gonchar... which means he's on the 3rd pair... so where does Phillips fit in?

It's possible to make it work but a Yandle type isn't the biggest need right now

The worst part is that it's not even true. Spezza was masterful in the Pittsburgh game -- and even when he's not fully on he's a HUGE part of this team. Zibanejad was good but it was a game that needed high energy players like Zibanejad to wake our team up. He looked so good by comparison because the rest of the players on the ice (minus Karlsson) were terrible.

Let's cool it a little bit. Zibanejad looked great -- hopefully they keep him up as long as he's playing well. He is nowhere near Spezza's level of impact on this team and he has a long way to go to reach that level.

Also those comparing Zibanejad to Silfverberg...I'm a huge Silfverberg fan but I think that Zibanejad has better tools to succeed in the NHL. His speed and physicality just translate better to the style of game in the NHL. Silfverberg will be a good player, but Zibanejad can be great IF he can put it together (which is still highly in doubt for me just because of his head).

Yandle would be the 2nd best defenseman on the team (no points for guessing who is the best).

You make room for guys like that, you don't try to fit him into whatever holes are left in the lineup.

If Spezza is back tomorrow I will sit out Regin and replace Fatendresse with Daugavins.

I'd rank this as one of the worst wins I've ever seen.

It was literally all Anderson and Karlsson.

And I'd back you up on that.

We deserved zero points tonight, yet came away with 2 (while not giving up the Loser Point, either!)... you take what you can get, and move on... but we lose tonight's game 8 out of 10 times if we're not playing the lifeless, un-coachable Capitals.

Just saying, with the way he's playing right now, it's not like Spezza drastically improves the chances of winning

Sure he'd be the 2nd best. But if we're gonna sell the farm/trade Zibanejad, it should be for someone who fills a bigger hole.

A-1st line wing
B-Top pair D who can play with Karlsson

Have you got a clue about what our record is without Jason Spezza in the lineup? Without Jason Spezza we get a top 10 pick in this years draft.

We did last time he was out for an extended period of time.

I would say for tomorrow:

Greening - Spezza - Michalek
Zibanejad - Turris - Alfredsson
Silfverberg - O'Brien - Condra
Daugavins - Smith - Neil

Assuming everyone is available and healthy (Zibanejad and Silfverberg could switch spots).

I agree.

I don't understand the Regin hype. This guy has 0 points. Don't give me the flack that he is snake bitten because if he is then hes been snake bitten for a few seasons now and yes I understand he had injuries but he has yet to put up consistent numbers.

O'Brien, Smith, Condra, Greening, Neil all have more points than he does and all of them play in the bottom 6 as well. If he is as good as he so many of you claim him to be he should generate points regardless where he plays.

Zibanejad > Silfverberg

Chris Neil Oil Changer commercial made my night

Anyone would look bad on a line with Regin and Latendresse. Wouldn't surprise me if he didn't have flu too. Seems Alfie and Erik had it, expect they somewhat hang out together.

Still managed 4 shots, and showed some hustle.
