For some reason I don't know why this core can't get into the next gear needed for playoff hockey. I don't buy the lack of fans cause the Oilers/Jets didn't have fans and that series had playoff intensity. This series feels like a bunch of regular season games.

The series that just ended in a sweep had intensity... Jesus christ some of you need to get a grip.

Foligno really doesn't seem ready to go tonight. He should not be playing.

Galchenyuk has been playing well overall, but his defensive deficiencies really make it hard to trust him in a higher-leverage role.

Nylander - Matthews - Marner
Galchenyuk - Kerfoot - Hyman
Mikhevey - Engvall - Simmonds
Spezza for special teams and rotate in

The top guys need to get it done. They've dominated territorially, but we need goals. Let them run, 22+ minutes. Hyman can cover defensively for Galchenyuk. The Engvall line has actually been pretty effective overall. The 4th line is a clear weakness though and just can't be played. Not trustworthy. Keefe can work Spezza in here and there and on special teams.

Brooks and Spezza are not a weakness. Only Thornton is a weakness.

Just like on defense, Sandin is the only weakness.

If you separated a playoff series into 3x buckets of 1) pure talent, 2) intangibles-work ethic-psychology-killer instinct and 3) goaltending, I think there's enough uncertainty with 2 of the 3 categories to have second thoughts. It's only natural with a team that has never done it.

then have second thoughts.
but that basically sums up my thing

either firmly believe they can win
or you have doubts that they can.

you can't firmly believe something yet have nagging doubts that they could lose.

By losing game 5 the Leafs have already failed the test to prove that they have killer instinct, losing tonight imo would seal their fate, Leafs in 7th games simply don't go.

I hope I'm wrong but I honestly don't know where some of you get the confidence from, knowing the history of this franchise. Guess we'll find out soon enough.

No because Vegas has won 6, yes SIX playoff series since the 2017-18 season.

The Leafs have won 0 playoff series since 2004.

Therein lies the difference, look I'm a Leafs fan like anyone else, I guess I've just got too much PTSD to share the same confidence as you, credit to you for that. I hope I'm wrong.
Newsflash: you're a homer, not a fan

That guy really listed Spezza for only special teams

They said the 4th line was a clear weakness. I was pointing out that Thornton was the only weakness on the 4th line, and not Brooks/Spezza.

3 powerplays in the past 2 game is low. I expect the refs to call more in favor of Toronto tonight as the NHL wants the series over.

Keefe better have the guys ready. Even if it is 2500 fans in the seats whether they're all Habs fans or mixed, I have a feeling Montreal will be amped to play in front of some home fans.

How can you blame the current Leafs for the last 50 years?

They weren’t even alive for half that time.

Do you suggest that Dubas go back to 1980 (before he was born) and acquire Gretzky?

I'm not blaming the current the Leafs, I'm referring to the franchise as a whole. Dubas has done a good job and Matthews will go down as the best Leaf ever. I think we'll win tonight and be in the final within the next 3-4 years, maybe even this one.

Saying that, our ineptitude over the past 5 decades is pretty obvious and many of the same players on the current roster have struggled come playoff time. I can't blame people for being in "I'll believe it when I see it" mode. I'm one of them.

Hopefully they spent their last bullet last game and will salute their fans for the last time this season tonight.

They were close games for the most part and even though it was a sweep had the look of playoff hockey that's missing in this series. The lack of scrums after the whistle, no crazy amount of hitting and the lack of hatred between the teams. I'm guessing most haven't watched much of the other series at all. If you did you would see a difference in the hockey played.

To me playoff hockey is laying your body on the line. For one reason or another this series lacks it.

Come on boys, we need 2500 people minimum outside Scotiabank tonight. Our only chance is to win this series in 7 games, and we'll need to force our government to allow fans for it-- or there's no chance. Start tonight, flood Maple Leaf Square. Our boys will either hear about it and be amped and win tonight, or we'll make our point and demand our way in for a potential game 7.

if this goes to 7, without fans, we are toasted. Will you let month 14 of 14 days to stop the spread kill our best team in years?
