Hell of a season. I know it's cliche with this team at this point but we have a bright future.

This is part of growing as a team. We have to experience these pains as a group to learn from it. Any other year we don't play Tampa and likely win a series.

We'll win two next year to make up for it. What a fun f***ing year though. All the drama from Yandle to start, the goalie arguments which may finally be laid to rest after half a decade of back and forth.

The comebacks. Holy hell the comebacks. This team never gave up all season and exceeded just about every one of our expectations. I am proud of this group for putting it together the way they did this year.

Great season you guys! Sucks you had to have what i would consider to be hand down the most talented round 1 matchup.... both of those teams were top 8 in the league and deserved to be in the second round.
Gonna happen next year too with the stacked top of the Atlantic. I'm all for adopting a 1 vs 16, 2 vs 15 etc but it will never happen.

sick of the first round exit. Up 3-2 in devils. Trocheck was tripped and now dirty ybor lightning.

Add Denny, ek, hepo, lundell and a FA D-man. Bring back Bennett and maybe 1 of duke or wennberg. Plus resign lomberg and marchment. Get rid of Yandle. That’s a cup contender.

I actually fully disagree. On the whole our team played better a majority of the time, we just had too many players get brain cramps which always punished us because we didn't get the goaltending we needed.
Ok, we were better EXCEPT we made too many mistakes AND we didn’t have good goaltending AND we lost 4 games out of 6.

Yeah we were definitely the better team :)

Consider it a moral victory or what but like of all the teams to lose in round 1 we're definitely the ones closest to actual post-season success except maybe Minnesota.
Washington looked done. Edmonton is just not happening, Blues weren't even playing in the same league as Colorado, Montreal doesn't even look like an NHL team. Pittsburgh looked okay but were going up against the Islanders. Nashville's put up a good fight against Carolina but we saw them all season and beat them more often than not so, I'd say the Panthers have a good shot there.

Then again, this is the exact situation we were in in 2016 and we all know what the hell happened so let's cross our fingers we can keep this group together and adding the right pieces.

Congratulations on wasting another year of Barkov and Huberdeau! Johnathan will be 28 soon and never got past the first round. Even 10 points in series didn't help. I'm so sad for him.
Our regular season has been great, but I want a deep playoff run next year. Overall, the team is trending in the right direction, we should have better goaltending (such as Knight showed) and continue to increase and maintain depth in D.

Why does everyone want keep Bennet he was the one who ruined the series, it was all under control before his bonehead charging

We are an up and coming team and have a bright future. Trust in zito guys, he took us from a nothing team to playoffs this year. Let’s keep on getting better and keep growing.

No shame in this loss. Man I hope they are able to build on this unlike teams past.

Bennet stays?
2 stupid penalties doesn't make him worthless.

add duclair to that list.
Meh, I don't see a better player on the UFA market for that kind of money and his trade value is probably still low because of his journeyman reputation. Compared to Vatrano, who some GM could see having untapped potential and overpay, I feel he's walking in 2022 anyway for a better opportunity.

We aren't icing only rookies next season.

I think it's hard to say the team has a bright future when you don't know what the off-season will bring. On one hand, I think this is the best team we've iced in a very long time and I thought they legitimately gave it a good run. On the other hand, first round elimination and we still have big glaring holes and roster issues.

Make or break off-season for Zito. He did a good job to get the team moving in the right direction, but there's a different between competitive and contender.

The way I see it, here are the problems he's gotta deal with:

1. Extend Barkov
2. Expansion Draft
3. Gotta find at least two quality defensemen at a reasonable price
4. The team doesn't have a shooter
5. Find the least painful way to eject Yandle the f*** off of this hockey team.

That's not an easy set of things to ask of the guy. Spencer Knight looks like he has apparently saved us the trouble of having to find a decent goaltender on a very cheap contract to replace Benchrobsky, or otherwise this list would look a LOT worse with that addition.

Why does everyone want keep Bennet he was the one who ruined the series, it was all under control before his bonehead charging

Because it's really obvious what he brings to this team. Better team with him on the ice, period. He had two bonehead penalties in this series but so did some other guys. I got him way down on this team's list of problems in that series. The biggist problem he created was him getting suspended, because we needed him on the ice.

Ya, it was a costly penalty and moment overall but let’s be serious here...we weren’t winning this series without Ekblad and even notwithstanding that, we needed Bob to be at least average and he couldn’t even accomplish that.

Forsling was outstanding in the playoff series, Weegar was a tire fire. Absolutely no question which guy is more valuable after watching all 6 games of that.
