So, how are we set for 2016-2017? What contracts do we lose?

Hopefully Prout, Connauton & Bourque. No way Bourque stays and if either of the other 2 get re-upped for anything other than a 2 way I'll be 100% behind the dump Jarmo movement.

Clarkson
Borque
Connauton
Campbell

Four guys playing for us that were cast offs from other teams, aka, not good enough for them. I realize we got two of them via trade, but one was a warm body, and one was a throw-in.

Karlson, unproven, probably should still be in the A
Prout, a dissaster
Boll, well who knows what we will get from him
JJ, a career - player, but hey, he has a lot of heart
Golo, lot's of up-side, but still learning
Murray, getting back to form

Maybe we were expecting to much from this bunch.

Throw in that we have to resort to McBackup because Bob can't stop a beach ball right now, and PRESTO-CHANGO, you have the worst team in the NHL! To be fair to Mac, he probably gets the start last night anyway since it was the second game of a back-to-back.

yippee

So, after re-signing who need to, will we have any cap room?

It seems like the cap situation is going to get ugly. It didn't take long for Clarkson to wear out his welcome

Some if us were concerned about him and the cap situation the moment we learned of the trade.

It's ok, we are not a cap team. Don't worry, at least we are not paying a guy to sit in the press box. Better to get something out of a guy instead of nothing. We will just trade him and have to retain maybe some salary. When the cap goes up his hit won't be that bad. We can hope he gets picked up in the expansion draft.

I'm sure I missed some.

You forgot the one where we buy him out in four years and save a million in salary

Not really. if the Canadian dollar remains in the tank and cap only goes up 3% I figure we will have some where in the vicinity of 3-3.5 million or so to play with; if it goes up 5% we'll have close to 5 mill. In either case we will have to sign 2 D so end of day we're going to be right at the cap next year unless we can unload a lousy contract.

Thank God we are going to save a BUNDLE on Joey since he's proving he's the floater he was earlier in his career.

6 points in 6 games. A real clown shoe he is.

#19 is the problem. It's clear as day. Why didn't I see this?

Points don't = good play. He isn't taking over games, he isn't beating anyone, his passes are cute and not connecting. He's not hustling every shift. 1 goal in 6 games is not what we need from our "elite" #1 Center. If you think so then you're not watching him closely enough. He's clearly not the ONLY problem, but he is a big one right now. I put Foligno in that same boat. They are supposed to be doing more on offense and they aren't, period.

He is a problem, but not among the most pressing. There are plenty of players not playing well but who aren't scoring - who aren't even handling their primary roster function.

I agree, but those other players aren't in line to make 8 million a year and expected to dominate games. He's been invisible.

If his primary function is to dominate games, then he's the same as all of those other players not performing their primary function. He's not making 8 mil. If we're assessing blame based on anticipated nest contract, there are a bunch of guys who should be off the hook.

There's still time

There may still be time but the difference between then and now is

1. Goal differential per game: 0.25 then vs 2.83 now
2. Points per game: 1 then vs 0 now. That does not actually do the difference justice as they have not even close to a point this year.
3. Expectations are much higher this year and for a good reason.

This year is a disaster and I hope they recover soon. This may be the worst I have ever seen them look...and that is saying something.

Why do goals matter? He has a goal and 5 assists. He's setting up others to score....if he had 5 goals and 1 assist and we're still 0-6 does it make a difference? Should he have 10 points by now or something? Giroux doesn't score more than 20-25 goals, he's must be a lazy bum to. Johansen can score yes, but he's becoming a dishmaster as well.

I will be the first to say he needs to shoot a little more because we all know how well he can shoot. But as long as the players around him are converting on the feeds he's dishing then I don't see a problem. He may not be "hustling" but his "lollygagging" is everyone else's 100% then because he's still right there next to them and I've seen him a few times being the first one back.

The bottom 6 is playing like shit, players are making terrible mental errors. Like Dubinsky and his whole line changing on the back check that led to a goal against, while you see Johansens line literally hurling themselvds off the bench to get back. That's something you learn in peewee. You NEVER EVER change on the back check. Just like you never pass the puck in front of your own net. Or how you're supposed to pick your head up before you pass. The jackets literally need to go back the basics and work their way up.
