This is like Mr. Burns sitting Darryl Strawberry in the Isotopes softball game because the other team brought in a leftie.
You know Winnipeg is going to send out Scheifele, Connor and Morrissey. You really want Celebrini, Toffoli and Walman against those guys?

Wennberg and Ferraro make sense as 2/3 of a matchup unit. Graf had a good game too. Silly to complain about this when we were 30 seconds away from beating one of the better teams in the league on the second half of a B2B.

You mean against McDavid?
Don't forget Brayden Schenn and the great Drew O'Connor.

The moment they had control there should have been an immediate shift change.

War is too dumb to think he's the smartest man in the world.
I agree with the shift change after winning the draw. I don't think the forward choices were poor. Graf and Wennberg did have a pretty good game. Ferraro was a bad choice regardless in 3 on 3 OT. But Warsofsky is a rookie NHL coach and he has to learn hard lessons too. He'll probably only go another year if there isn't marked improvement next season but the team even getting a point off the Jets in this sort of game is still to his credit.

Once they had control there should have been an immediate line change.

Also, we're a last place team that spent 40 minutes holding on for dear life against the best team in the West, but sure, why not just send out offensively-void guys, sit back and hope for the best.

why the f*** wouldn't we? we're not trying to lock it down in OT, you need guys that can take a puck off mobile players.

Anyone with a brain could see that unless they're willing to go mano-a-mano offensively whomever else they sent out was going to get torched by Winnipeg's guns. What's the point of having your best players if you're too afraid of using them in situations where they need to be your best players? It's 3 on 3. Sink or swim, don't just tread water for 5 minutes.

Celebrini is the best defensive forward and offensive forward on this team, him not starting in ot where puck possession and ability to keep chances to a minimum is at a premium is not a good choice.

has any other line of players even generated a chance in OT other than one that had celebrini on it?

You really want to ice players with less offensive skill AND had worse expected goal against numbers during the game.

And guess what, Winnipeg weren't putting their best players out against Graf and Wennberg.

It is. Because it takes into consideration two-way play.

And guess what Celebrini-Eklund-Toffoli gave up less expected goals against against the Jets top line in this very game.

You make these bullshit assumptions based on zero evidence.
I agree, that's why I said it was incredibly meaningful. Maybe the Sharks can hire you to print out Natural Stat Trick pages and hand them to the coaching staff between periods?

We got dominated the entire 3rd period genius. You think that’s good coaching? He had Luke Kunin on the ice in a 6 on 5 situation(after he was the only player on the previous PK to fail a clear), then Kunin not only fumbles the 6 on 5 clear, he REFUSED TO PURSUE Morrisey and gave him a wide open look w/ Ferraro screening Vanecek.

So again, you all mocked me, but THESE ARE THE DETAILS THAT MATTER. Why is LUKE f***ING KUNIN ON THE ICE? People are so hung up on the OT lineup that they let him off the hook for absolutely brainless player usage ONCE AGAIN in a late game situation.

Oh, and you’re right. Celebrini played like a rookie in his first ever NHL game. Let’s definitely mock him for that in our laughable pursuit in defending the most idiotic coach in NHL history. Are you related to Barf?

Also, if you want the kids to learn, you play them in these pressure situations.

And if you want to win, you play your best players in these situations.

In other words, you play the kids in these situations.

Damn, Kunin gave up a wide open look from the boards? That's inexcusable. Everyone knows a point shot from 50 feet out is the most dangerous chance in hockey.
