Apparently both Sutter and Horvat are banged up. So good chance Gaunce gets in for one of them tomorrow.

Heck, after his weekend, give him a chance in the top six.

A few posters have mentioned it, and that would be great. That is a total non-WD coaching move though, so I doubt it. Tomlinson said Chaput will likely move up to take Horvat's spot and Gaunce will swing into the middle on the fourth line. Would like to see what he could do with Burrows/Hansen though.

Yeah, pretty much anyone before Gaunce will be moved up to take Bo's place.

Going to the game tomorrow since I go to school in Pittsburgh now

Beyond excited, hoping for Crosby to get his 100th, Burrows to get a hat trick in a 3-2 Nucks win

Lord help us if we see Horvat and Sutter out even for a few games at the same time. Our center depth would be so dreadfully bad especially against Pittsburgh tomorrow. I'm expecting Horvat to sit and Sutter to,play, but for emphasis of our bad our center depth would be..

Crosby
Malkin
Bonino
Cullen/Fehr

Vs

Sedin
Granlund
Chaput
Gaunce

Yes, I'm having Gretzky and the L.A. Kings flashbacks.....everybody seems to set records against the Canucks, including Jagr earlier in the season. Crosby is capable of laying a solo beat-down on this Canucks lineup.

So any word on the lineup?....is Bo out?....and Sutter?.....is it really Hank, Chaput and Gaunce down the middle?....guess they could move Granlund into the middle, but would Willie ever do it?.....this game is going to be all about 'survival'

Horvat doesn't strike me as the kind of player that would miss a game because of a bruise.

Assuming they're using the terminology correctly, a deep bruise isn't really just a normal bruise but worse. I've had that type of bruising on my leg, and I've also broken my leg, and the pain wasn't really that far off between the two.

Some positive news. Abbott just said Gaunce is expected to take Horvat's spot between Burrows and Hansen. I'm absolutely shocked if that's the case.

Indeed. If that is the diagnosis by a medical professional it isn't a bruise like one normally thinks of a bruise. It's not even the ding on the surface of the bone that some will call a bone bruise. If a doctor is saying that it's a partial fracture of the inner lining of the bone. And it hurts like hell.

Deep inside the bone is an area called the medulla. It contains the bone marrow and fibrous tissue called trabeculae.

With a bone fracture, all of the trabeculae in a region of bone have broken. But with a bone bruise, an injury only damages some of these trabeculae. An injury might cause blood to build up in the area beneath the periosteum. This causes a subperiosteal hematoma, a type of bone bruise. An injury might also cause bleeding and swelling in the area between your cartilage and the bone beneath it. This causes a subchondral bone bruise. Or bleeding and swelling can happen in the medulla of your bone. This is called an interosseous bone bruise......

...Most bone bruises slowly heal over 1 to 2 months. A larger bone bruise may take longer to heal. You may not be able to return to sports activities for weeks or months.
From https://www.saintlukeshealthsystem.org/health-library/bone-bruise

Had it happen to me two summers ago blocking a shot. I was in a walking boot for 4 weeks and then wasn't allowed to do anything major for another 4-6 weeks after that (no high impact, no skating...basically I was allowed to walk). It can take months for a bone bruise to heal. But these are pro players if they think they can put up with the pain they may give it a go. It's probably stupid to do that but it seems strange they didn't just send him home to be honest.

IIRC it was a deep bruise for Neely that calcified causing the shortening of his career.

How great would it be to suddenly see Gaunce become a factor now that he might be playing up the lineup with good players?

I hope that sticks because I'm really interested to see what he can do.
