That's funny, I thought Thompson looked good tonight. I liked his pop with the puck. You don't see that every day. Oh well. Didn't convert on the chances. Smith with two breakaways, nicely done. Looked good then bad then good on the PP.
Celly with a game to forget, but even so he had a few chances.
Mukh looks... Fine. Which is probably good enough for now.
Thompson has been looking very overwhelmed last few games.

He was hooking him all the way from center ice ref was letting it go, until he continued to hook him going over the blue line, so it wasn’t meritless. The missed checking from behind on Mario was probably way worseI don't like that they called it in OT. I didn't really see much to cause a penalty shot, but they only showed the replay once.
You know what they say: Deserving only counts in horseshoes, hand grenades, and broken clocks with blind squirrels inside.
What?Who are the tall Russian/Belarussian players in this draft? A ton of them are breaking out in the NHL now. Voronkov, Marchenko, Protas, etc.
But no one with first round talent. Cause those ones bust like Kostin, Mukhamudallan and Alexeyev.
So tall under the radar third-four round picks only.
Only in terms of his penalties causing the 2 GA. There were many other penalties against, but I think the biggest difficulty tonight for Macklin was that Eklund had a real bad game. Couldn't get any plays going. This has to be Macklin's worst game of the season.
I was furious at him for thatTaffoli, don't just stand there, shoot it. You had a point blink shot.
Last resort onlyI'm mostly taking positives from this game. Sharks were the better team and Vanecek looked good.
How are people feeling about Wennberg as the #2C next season?
Vanacek looked good. He was really seeing the puck tonight!
I would be shocked if either goalie gets traded. Askarov should just stay with the Cuda until their season is over.Another game like this and teams might actually want him at the deadline.
The bizarro Michkov.I have a theory why Celebrini isn't as amazing in 3v3 as at other times. His game cues off others' actions/reading plays and he is great at playing in tight to other players. That's how he tries to generate advantages during 5v5 but during 3v3 he cannot play that kind of game, it is a wider open, more backed-off style of play. Presumably he will figure it out, I can't imagine he won't.
Pretty much, he seems to do better when he can break tight coverage than if he has space to work with. The bizarro Michkov.
Bedard just looks defeated poor guyThat game is 100% on Macklin.
Unforced error led to the goal against. Missed the 2-1 to end it and capped it off with giving them a penalty shot.
And you know what? I kind of love it. You could see it on his face at the end, he's frustrated with himself. This is where growth happens.
Will take this 10/10 over Bedard looking frustrated at his teammates. Celebrini's look at the end is the look of a winner, even in a loss IMO.
Go Sharks!
So in theory smith should dominate 3 on 3 playI have a theory why Celebrini isn't as amazing in 3v3 as at other times. Maybe but foot speed is important so he might get burned. Or at least reaction speed.Bedard just looks defeated poor guy

I was thinking the same thing when I read that.So in theory smith should dominate 3 on 3 play
I think he's a high risk high reward player that takes a lot of chances during games because 5v5 you'll usually have at least one person back (there have been quite a few odd man rushes going against from turnovers), but in OT the risks are far more egregious because of that lack of back support. OT is all about transition so any turnover tends to lead to 2-1 or breakaways. I don't mind him taking those chances. This team doesn't have the horses to sit back and pray on mistakes, especially when you only have one viable line to make things happen.I have a theory why Celebrini isn't as amazing in 3v3 as at other times. Unless you have a supremely gifted offensive d-man, playing any defenseman in Ot seems pointless.I was thinking the same thing when I read that.
Eklund - Celebrini - Smith ftw. Defense be damned!
