in 2018, at the young age of 22, Barkov won the Lady Bing. That is for the best player, with the low penalty minutes.I will not stand for this stutzle slander crying because he doesn't match up against barkov is crazy. He just turned 23 he's got a lot of growing to do yet, and barkov is top 5 center in the league. Stop crying and be happy that even though they're not winning they're still playing in meaningful games
2018/2019 at 23, he was an all star.
2020/2021 at age 25, a Selke.
Barkov is widely regarded as one of the best 5-6 players in the league and has been seen that way for 5-6 years. Stutzle has yet to enter that stratosphere.
Both Stutzle and Barkov entered the league on very poor teams, and ones that remained poor for the first 4-5 seasons of their respective careers. Barkov was roughly a +40 and since his plus minus is well over +100. Stutzle is roughly a -50 in his 4-5 years.
Stutzle has some serious catching up to do. And has 1-2 years to bridge what is today, a fairly large gap.
This is the NHL, not health care. You don't wait for a Doctor to be in his prime in his late 30s. You draft a player at 18, you expect him with the big club at 20. At 22 either a star or a JAG.
Gretzky, Orr, Howe, Crosby and a whole crop of players, could have retired at 23 and been well accomplished.
No one in the NHL is still growing at 23. At 23, you are a grizzled veteran and expected to lead. Bobby Orr won his last cup at 23, lead Boston to a final at 24, had 6 Norris'. Crosby had 1 cup, a second final and a bucket full of personal awards. Not to mention an Olympic gold medal.
